Chapter 5 - Xue Ying

As they stepped out of the brothel, Li Wei shielded his eyes from the bright red lanterns that illuminated the street.

The night sky was clear and beautiful, dotted with stars that sparkled like diamonds.

He took a deep breath, relishing the crisp, clean air that was a stark contrast to the stuffy confines of his previous world.

Wu Xiang called out to him, snapping him out of his reverie.

"Oi! What are you daydreaming about?"

Li Wei tried to look innocent as he responded, "You didn't tell me your name?"

Wu Xiang remembered that Li Feng had lost his memories and facepalmed himself for forgetting.

"I am Wu Xiang, your master. I'm the young master of the Wu clan. All you have to do is serve me, got it? For now, we'll find a physician who can help get back your memories."

Li Wei nodded, his mind already accepting his current situation.

"How did I lose my memories?" he asked Wu Xiang.

Wu Xiang looked slightly guilty and sighed before answering.

"You were hit in the head. That's all you need to know."

Li Wei decided not to pry any further and remained silent, observing the lively street as they walked. The sounds of merchants hawking their wares and the chatter of people filled the air.

"Hey!!"

Just then, a petite voice called out to Wu Xiang, interrupting his thoughts. Li Wei turned his head to see who it was and saw a beautiful woman standing before them.

The woman had a small but well-proportioned figure, with a slender waist and shapely curves. Her skin was smooth and flawless, with a healthy glow that hinted at her aristocratic background.

As she walked towards them, Li Wei noticed the confident and graceful way she moved, as if she was used to commanding attention wherever she went.

Her long black hair cascaded down her back in loose waves, and her face was strikingly beautiful, with high cheekbones, full lips, and piercing almond-shaped eyes that seemed to look straight through him.

Despite her delicate features, there was a haughty aura around her that made it clear she was not someone to be trifled with.

"Xue Ying?" Wu Xiang said, his face turning pale at the sight of her.

Li Wei's heart sank as he recognized the name on the dodou he had in his inventory. His thoughts raced as he realized what had happened:

'Shit! Li Feng, you stole your master's fiancée's underwear?!'

He watched in horror as Wu Xiang stammered, trying to come up with an excuse.

"Wu Xiang, Did you go visit the brothel again?" Xue Ying demanded, her voice laced with a hint of annoyance.

Suddenly, Wu Xiang turned to Li Wei and said,

"Li Feng lost his memories because of you!"

Li Wei's heart raced with fear as he tried to act natural, nodding his head in agreement with Wu Xiang's statement.

Xue Ying's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean he lost his memories because of me?"

Wu Xiang patted Li Wei's back and turned to Xue Ying. "Remember this morning when you kicked him in the back of his head? He got injured pretty badly and lost his memories! I brought him here since I heard that a medical master is here. But unfortunately, I couldn't find him."

Xue Ying furrowed her brow and looked at Wu Xiang, her skepticism clear in her voice.

"That doesn't make any sense. Why would a skilled medical master choose to live in such a place?"

Wu Xiang shifted nervously, realizing he was losing ground.

"Well, maybe he is a recluse who doesn't like to be bothered. Who knows? The point is, Li Wei needs medical attention, and we need to find someone who can help him."

Wu Xiang's words made Xue Ying's expression soften slightly as she looked at Li Wei.

"Is that true?" she asked him.

Li Wei nodded, trying his best to look pitiful and helpless.

"Yes, miss. I'm afraid I don't remember anything from before this morning."

Xue Ying's tone took on a forceful edge as she turned to Wu Xiang.

"If you hadn't dodged my kick, Li Feng wouldn't have gotten hurt in the first place. This is all your fault, Wu Xiang!"

Wu Xiang flinched at Xue Ying's scolding but quickly regained his composure.

"I'm sorry, Ying. I didn't mean to cause any harm. I just didn't want to ruin your new shoes."

Xue Ying huffed in frustration before turning back to Li Wei.

"Do not worry, it is my duty to take care of you since I'm the one who caused your injury. Our family's medical master is the best in the city and will surely cure your amnesia."

Li Wei felt a knot form in his stomach at the forcefulness in Xue Ying's tone. He tried to speak up, but Wu Xiang cut him off with a chuckle.

"Looks like you're in good hands, Li Feng."

Li Wei groaned inwardly at Wu Xiang's comment, feeling like he was in the middle of a bad joke. But he had no choice but to go along with it for now.

"Thank you, miss. I appreciate your kindness."
