Kui suddenly froze in Aok's embrace.
His mind raced.
He couldn't let Aok misunderstand this anymore. Not after everything they had just seen. If he didn't explain now, Aok might actually believe that the person in the painting had been Kui's lover in this life, or worse, that Kui had some kind of relationship with the dead man.
"I mean..." Kui stammered, desperately trying to put his thoughts into words. "He... he was my lover."
Aok blinked.
"My lover from a past life," Kui hurriedly added, his voice becoming more frantic. "I mean, not me exactly! Well... me, but a past-life me! You understand, right?"
He didn't even wait for Aok to answer.
"Look! Look at the table!"
Kui hurriedly pulled himself out of Aok's arms and grabbed his hand, dragging him toward the table before he could ask another question.
Aok followed, still looking slightly confused.
