The next second, Kui was back in that strange room again, standing before the painting on the table. For a moment, he could only stare at it, his mind still trapped in the vision he had just witnessed. Then something caught his attention behind the table.
There was a body.
No... not a body anymore.
It was the dried remains of the aged man he had just watched spend what seemed like an entire lifetime searching for his lost lover. Only bones remained now, the flesh long gone, leaving behind nothing but a fragile skeleton lying quietly against the wall as though it had been forgotten by time itself.
Kui's heart ached when he saw him like this.
