Chapter 69 - Legend Nineteen Part Two - The Game of Protection, Or, (Are you fucking serious? Who is going to pay for that hole in the roof?!)

Layla remained silent, her eyes fixed on Lucy.

"M-master! Do you think we'll really be able to help them? Skippy the mouse maid asked her Master James.

"I don't know, but we have to try!" he encouraged her.

Master Lucian leaned close to his bunny maid and spoke only to her.

"Do you have your arcane rifle with you Darling?"

The bunny nodded.

"Always," she said.

"Good," this might be the most interesting game yet," he said, taking a sip from his drink.

Momo the goblin maid almost appeared by her Master's side, quickly and quietly.

"Master, let me take you somewhere safer, this is about to get bad."

The master of the house simply shook his head with a smile.

"Until one of these fine young couples wins, this is still our manor, our home, and I'll not let them defend it alone for us. I may be older my darling, but I still have some tricks up my sleeve!" he assured her, standing up and slapping both of his hands down on the table. "You hear that dragon! We will not let you ruin our game and home! And we certainly will not let you take this fine young Mistress without a fight!"

"YEAAAH!" everyone shouted at once, except for Layla who still sat in silence.

Jaycie the dragon rolled her eyes at this as the room grew silent once more and opened her mouth to speak, but before she could she was interrupted by the sound of a chair clattering to the ground. Layla had finally stood up, in fact she had shot up from her seat, sending it falling as she looked up at the dragon.

"YOU'RE NOT TAKING MY MISTRESS YOU SCALY FUCK!" she screamed!

"Hey!" Canglo whined, but her Mistress put her hand on the other dragon's shoulder.

"It's alright my darling, she wasn't talking about you, she's just upset," she assured her. Canglo pouted for a moment in silence, knowing her Mistress was right.

Lucy stood there still in shock, but Layla words shocked her even more, she turned to look at the elf who she had called her maid for the past few days, the one she thought had just been using her, but now she wasn't so sure. In fact that idea had all been banished from her mind.

"Layla..." was all she was able to say, barely audible, if even a whisper, but the only person she needed to hear it, did. The elf's sensitive ears twitched from the sound of her own name from the lips of her Mistress.

She turned to look at the red headed human.

"I'm here! And I won't let her take you!" Layla yelled across the table.

Lucy smiled.

"You were right, old friend... I finally found someone who cares." the human wizard thought to herself as the elf she had only just met and all of these people were ready to jump to her defense.

Jaycie the dragon sighed and rolled her eyes as she was still hovering just under the hole she had made.

"Are all of you done? Clearly none of you have fought a red dragon before, because if you had you wouldn't even be here! I'm bored of this already. Come on Lucy, time to go!" she said dismissively, before leaning down and dashing through the air with a single flap of her wings.

Lucy gasped as she far quicker than she had expected, leaving her now time to cast a spell, only to flinch as the red dragon woman shot right towards her with her clawed hands extended. She had closed her eyes as she flinched and turned away, but the impact never came. Soon enough she opened her eyes to see what had happened and gasped at what she saw.

Layla was standing in front of her with her back to her and her arms splayed out. The dragon had been caught midflight by all of Layla's friends!

Her mouth dropped at the scene. All of them were standing on the dining room table just in front of her. On either side of Jaycie was a demon, Hana on one side and Sylas on the other, each holding one of her arms back, Barric was behind her, holding the end of her tail in a single hand with an iron grip, and Quinn held on to one of her feet, having also wanted to help.
