Legend Nineteen
The Game of Protection
Or
(Are you fucking serious? Who is going to pay for that hole in the roof?!)
And just like that it was another beautiful morning as all of the manor's guest Masters and maids met at the dining room table with the Master of the manor at the head and all of his maids sitting at one side. Except for the ones that we're serving breakfast of course.
Though this morning was a bit tense. It was the final day of the game so everyone would soon know who the winners were after the Master revealed whatever the last game could be. There was also the mellow dramatics a certain elf and her new Master were dealing with.
Layla sat in the middle of her party on the guest's side of the table, looking down mostly or only looking to Master Rauly when he spoke. She dared not sit next to Lucy or even look at her until she had thought of the perfect thing to say to her. The elf no longer cared for this game. She wasn't going to win and at this point she would have traded that win away if it meant making up with the woman she had called her Master for such a sweet short while. Her eyes were still puffy from crying herself to sleep with heavy dark circles under them from what little sleep she had gotten. She had shared what she could with her party in the short little time they had before breakfast and of course they all assured her that everything would in fact be alright, but this didn't do much to help the way she felt.
"Good morning everyone!" Master Rauly said, raising his crystal glass of orange juice with a little something extra in it.
"Good morning." Every one responded in all different tones, some excited, some uncaring, and some just plain tired.
"Well, by now I'm sure you're all dying to know what our last game will be by now?!" the Master asked, leaving a little room for silence after the question, though awkwardly, no one responded except for a stray cough. "Well glad to see you're all just as excited as I am!" he went on, powering through the awkward response with heavy sarcasm. I can assure that our last game will be something you won't soon forget! Something riveting! Something exciting! Something that will get all of your blood a boil with the heat of friendly rivalry and competition!" the Master assured them.
Once again the room was silent, but everyone was now looking towards the head of the table where the Master of the manor sat. They were intrigued at the very least.
"Well now that I have everyone's attention, I shall announce our final game! Everyone! My maids and guests! Please ready yourself for, The Game of-"
Tragically enough, just before Master Rauly could finish his announcement there was a loud crash! That sounded like it had come from just upstairs. Master Rauly sighed. "What was that?" he asked in a calm tone. "Momo, could you go-" and once again before he could finish his instruction, there was yet another even louder CRASH! As the ceiling just above the dining room table burst open, sending debris and dust everywhere!
Everyone jumped from their chairs and were quickly on their feet, backing up from the massive hole that had been made as parts of broken wood and manor rained down on the dining room table. They all looked up to see what could have possibly caused this, most of the guest looking confused, but a certain red headed human grew wide eyed when the cause of the destruction was revealed.
Lucy gasped when she looked up to see Jaycie, her once red dragon maid, hovering there just below the hole she made in the ceiling.
"Are you fucking serious?!" Master Rauly shouted. "Do you plan on pay for those repairs young lady?!" he went on.
"Shut up old man! I'm not here for you! You're lucky I didn't burn this old lump of shit manor to the ground!" Jaycie said with a half growl, before turning her gaze to Lucy. "I'm actually here for my run away Mistress. The Dr wasn't very happy when I came back home without the money and without you. I was over this stupid game before it even started, but I have my orders so you'll be coming back with me," Jaycie explained.
Layla's heart pounded as she looked to Lucy. The human wizard looked horrified, her eyes wide and sweat already forming on her brow.
"No... No! I'll never go back there!" Lucy protested.
Jaycie sighed.
"I'm not asking. I'm taking you with me, so say goodbye to all your little pretend friends and let's go!" she demanded.
"No!" Lucy said again, pulling her magic book around in front of her and cracking it open.
"All right everyone!" Master Rauly announced. "Seeing as we have been rudely interrupted and there's a giant fucking hole in my manor now, I have seen fit to change our final game!" he said, Jaycie raising an eyebrow at this. "Everyone may play and the first pair to get that ill- behaved dragon maid out of my manor will win The Game of Maids!" he announced.
Everyone couldn't help but to grin at this turn of events as a few of the Masters began to take their coats off.
"Maids and Masters! Assist and support each other! Maids! Protect your Masters! Masters! Protect your maids! This is our final game! The game of protection!" Master Rauly yelled, ending his speech by pointing straight up at the rude intruder.
Hana smiled wide showing off her fangs, now this was a game she could win and show for once and for all that she was the best maid.
"Mistress! That means we have another chance to win!" Canglo the green dragon said to her Mistress. Mistress Nushi smiled slightly and nodded her head.
"It does indeed, this time we won't get distracted," she assured her.
"As if! Just leave it to us! We're gonna win this thing!" Hana announced proudly to Canglo and Nushi. Barric gave her little swat on her rear before crossing his arms and standing proud next to the huge demon.
"That's right! We can win this thing! Together!" he said, the rest of his party raising eyebrows at this.
"We're here too ya know!" Quinn whined as Sylas just shook his head behind her.
