"What is their nation called." Yvonne was jogging the young God's memory. Even though the memory transfer is usually safe if done slowly, it can still leave out pieces of information here and there.
So to make sure he grasped the important bits, she was asking him rapid fire questions.
"Tavaria." Even though the information he received was a bit foggy, he retained many facts about the nation he was going to visit.
"What is the name of their Capital."
"Tavar" He had a confident grin on his face as he kept answering the questions she kept throwing at him.
"Who is their patron God."
"You" He said by pointing his finger at her.
"No." She smirked as the confidence on the young God's face turned into surprise.
"What? You are not the God of your own planet!?" It was insane to think that a God wasn't celebrated in the very planet they created themselves.
"You see, whenever I travel to many cities on Ionia, I always stay in one place to look after my people and ensure their growth. Their was one village along the coastline, that was struck by plague. I went there and set up a tent to look after sick people. One patient from many that I took care of was a skinny boy, barely 15 years old. He was on verge of death when his mother took him to me, I saved him and it was then that he proposed to me." Her visage had happiness etched on it, as if remembering an old happy memory, which it was for the goddess.
Watching her like this strangely made him feel angry. It was as if someone had poked his core with a dagger. Both pain and rage were starting to form inside him, which he successfully prevented from coming out. Yvonne was engrossed in her recollection of events that took long ago and didn't notice the jealousy sprouting in his core.
Watching her smile grow wide he urged her to continue, "And, did you marry him?" He held non-existent breath looking for the answer.
Taken aback from the abrupt popping of her metaphorical bubble, she continued.
"No, I knew that he was just very thankful to me for saving his life and amazed by the magical capabilities I had shown." He released a sigh of relief at hearing the answer.
"But he didn't falter, he kept persuing me. Following me to every village and town I went to. Until one fateful day he asked me what I desired the most. I was very annoyed at his tenacity, so I gave him something impossible to do." Even though he had not known Yvonne for long, he still found her to be a very patient individual, the trait which he very much liked and admired. But hearing that some mortal being had annoyed the composed Yvonne into breaking character, surprised him.
'He must have been very persistent in his persuit.' He mused to himself.
(A/N:- Please note that I am going to use ' ' as thoughts that the characters think.)
"What did you ask of him?"
"I asked him to bring peace to the lands."
"Huh?"
She looked at him and explained the reason for her wish, "There were various city states and petty nations which were always at war with each other. Thousands of lives were lost each time they fought. Although I have seen my fair share of death and misery, I still wanted them to live in peace. So when I got annoyed by his persistence, I tasked him to bring peace to those lands."
"As I kept traveling, I heard rumors of a newly born state which had annexed nearby villages and towns. As the city grew, the nearby settlements started to get anxious and decided to stop fighting amongst themselves and form a union. This union consisted of the most powerful and old states that dominated the continent. Surely you would think the new state would fall" As a prompt she looked at the newborn for a response who nodded along, not knowing what to say.
"I sure did think that they would fall. So I decided to travel there, to both see the new power on the continent and to heal the people who will inevitably fight each other. But what I thought didn't come to be. The new state defeated the union and routed their armies whenever they met on fields. Whether due to the differences and inefficient co-ordination of union armies or incompetence of their generals, the new state advanced into their territories and conquered the whole continent under one banner."
"As I was tending to the survivors of the last great battle, I was approached by the same boy I had rejected many times. But he was no longer a boy, he was a grand mage in his own right and leader of the new state, Tavaria. He once again asked me to marry him, this time I couldn't refuse. Seeing that people were happy under his rule, I asked him to proclaim himself a God and unite his people not only in the name but heart and soul too." If before it felt like a dagger poking his core, now it felt as if a spear pierced through it. He felt jealousy ravage his body.
'What is this feeling? Why can't I get rid of it!'
This time the goddess did caught the emotion despite his best attempt to hide and supress it. She didn't confront the God in order to prevent him from getting embarrassed and continued on.
"He refused claiming that he was just a good mage and a good leader, nothing more. Even though I told him of my true nature he didn't change his mind until we reached a compromise."
"And what was that compromise?" His voice was a bit squeaky due to the bottled emotions in his core. Yvonne decided to ignore it and went on.
"We would both become the patron Gods of Tavaria and its citizens. People readily agreed and worshipped us both when I appeared in my Aether form and helped my husband Tavar create miracles which helped people. And that is how Tavaria was two Gods."
Not wanting to hear another word about tavar he skipped the matter and was able to answe her other questions. It took a while to finish but Yvonne was satisfied with his answers.
"Are you ready to go?"
'The great conquest was long ago, this tavar is already dead, he won't be a problem to me. And besides I have a whole nation to travel to!'
"Yes!" Tavar already on back of his mind, he was once again elated by notion of his descent on Ionia.
