[1st POV]
A few months had passed since I met Rumi. I hadn't heard from her since. I was kinda down for that, wishing I had access to a phone or something.
But that's beside the point. I was off my mother's hit list since I stole the money from her purse. Things were returning to normal, and I could do my usual stuff again.
Currently, I was in the forest area at the outskirts of Mustafu City. It was located in the direction of UA High, and the small hills here overlooked Mustafu City. It took more than a few hours to get here, and that included going through a few train stops and bus stops.
I really shouldn't be here. My mother would be pissed if she found out.
But what can I say? Every man chooses his own poison. To be a hero is to walk with death every day.
"Kacchan, I think we should return now," Deku said, carrying a backpack for our trek. He was on the verge of tears as he looked around the normal trees as if they were haunted.
"Just a few more. We need to make sure no one can find us," I said, leading the way as I made my way through the bushes, swinging a large stick.
Might I add that it was a fine stick. It looked like a real sword if you squinted hard.
"But what if we get lost and no one can find us?" he said, his own words seemed to scare him.
"What if Bigfoot appears and eats us both?" I said sarcastically. I turned around when I felt him stop moving. From the expression on his face, he took my words seriously.
"I was kidding! Bigfoot lives in America, Dumbass!" I was about to have a burst at the gullible broccoli, but I quickly caught myself and did some breathing techniques.
That's right. I've continued with my therapy classes. I was at a five-streak visit with no fights whatsoever.
I decided to walk the path of a sage. I was but a new man.
"Is that why Americans have so many guns?"
"Prolly," I shrugged before we continued onwards.
After a few more minutes of trekking through the woods by ourselves, we finally came upon a small clearing, and it was then that I decided that this would be the place.
"Okay, this is perfect," I said, rubbing my hands together with a sinister look on my face.
Technically, I was about to break some law.
We rested for a few more minutes before I began to take off my clothes. I started from the shoes and stripped until I only had a pair of boxers on me. I went ahead to the centre of the clearing and stood there.
Deku, on the other hand, stayed close but not too close. He stayed under the shade of the trees, and he had already taken out the essentials.
There was a mini fire extinguisher which I borrowed from school, along with a towel, water and a large All Might poster that Deku hung on the trunk of the tree.
Indeed, today I was going to learn to control my quirk properly.
And I was going to do this by learning how to fucking fly like Iron Man.
"Deku hype me up!!" I yelled.
Deku was all over the place. I had trained him properly to become the perfect sidekick but still hadn't gotten the hang of it. Everyone knew it was the number one job of the sidekick to hype up the hero.
"You're the best Kacchan! You can nail this first try! Villains tell stories about you around a campfire, and you have the best quirk in the whole world!" he said with red on his face.
Acceptable.
"Here I go! Get excited!"
BOOM!!
A large explosion went off from the soles of my feet and my palms. There was a bright yellow light even visible in broad daylight. The explosion was followed by a wave of force that sent me up to the sky like a rocket. Dark clouds rolled around where I previously stood.
I did not put much oomph behind it, but my quirk was far more powerful than I initially expected. Perhaps that trek through the mountain had made me sweat more than I thought.
My body flew above the tree line, and I could see the city once again.
Then I fell.
I caused another explosion that propelled me up again, this time it was a little shorter in height. I fell again and did it again until eventually, I barely bounced on the ground and hit the ground.
"That was awesome Kacchan! You were flying!" Deku said with stars in his eyes.
I could feel excitement flow through my whole body as I clenched and unclenched my fist. It was hard to get a feel for how my quirk was growing without the ability to use it properly. Not only was it growing stronger with my age, but I had a feeling that my training was making it stronger too.
If I could learn how to control my power properly, I believe I would be able to practice with weak explosions afterwards.
School was nearly starting again and I did not have much time. I need to be able to control my quirk properly.
"Okay, let's do that again," I said and blasted off to the sky once more after a boom of an explosion.
My quirk was tricky. Although I caused the explosion, I had no control over it. My control over the explosions went out as soon as I let up the spark. So I had a very limited window on when I could control my powers.
This was one of the reasons why I couldn't train before. It was hard to control it.
But it wasn't anything my genius could handle.
I trained in the forest for nearly five hours before Deku and I headed back to the city in the afternoon. I didn't manage to fly as I imagined, but I believe I got the hang of my quirk now. A dozen more visits and I should be able to master how to control the power behind my explosions like it was truly a part of me.
On our way down, I had a deep, heartfelt talk with Deku and managed to convince him to start training seriously at a young age. In the original story, it was only under All Might that Deku began to train. But through the power of my words alone, I was able to change the plot and convince him to train much earlier.
Truly, I was getting wise and sagely these days.
Overall, it was a good day.
...
"Deku, you should train."
"What? Training?" Deku looked confused. "Why?"
"Because I said so."
"Okay,"
...
Deku and I continued to come to the same spot in the following days. For about two weeks, we were able to stick to our schedule, but all good things must come to an end.
Eventually, a forest guard patrol caught on to us because of all the destruction I left behind, and our training arc came to a stop.
And then I died. My mother killed me.
The end.
...
But of course I didn't die when I was killed. School resumed in early April and I was officially a 2nd grade student.
I couldn't even pretend to get excited for it. At least 1st grade had a charm to it because it was number one. But being in second grade was not as cool.
My daily life changed a bit as well.
Seeing how determined I was to train and get stronger, my parents finally changed their style of raising. I guess they realised they couldn't stop me in the end, since I was willing to leave the city just to train.
So they settled for being a bit supportive instead.
At last, they turned one of the rooms in our house into a training room. They bought some gym equipment and weights for me to use. They said it was my gift for finally becoming 2nd grade.
My mother also allowed me to train my quirk in the yard after I showed her that I had sufficient control over my quirk to not blow up the house.
All in all, it was truly a great start to an academic year.
School still sucked, though.
