The day finally came. I had been expecting Jerry's uncle to visit my office, and somehow, I felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness. I kept looking at the clock on my desk.
I had already spoken to Jerry about his uncle's visit, so I wasn't completely surprised. Still, meeting someone from the family of the man I was about to marry felt different. There was also something else occupying my mind.
I had recently been assigned a newly employed manager who would eventually take over my responsibilities before I leaving the staff quarters. I knew I had to prepare him properly.
I didn't want to leave without making sure that whoever took over from me understood the work.
So that morning, I sent the secretary to inform him to see me in my office. His name is Tunde and he's from the western part of Nigeria. While

(SECRETARY POV)
"Good morning Ma. Tunde is here Ma.
(ROSIE'S POV)

"I want us to go through some things concerning your new position.
"Don't be nervous. I'm not here to intimidate you. I want to mentor you and make the transition easier for you."

I smiled with relief as I responded "Thank you, ma."

I began explaining the responsibilities he would be taking over.
I showed him the important documents, explained how certain matters were handled and taught her some of the procedures she needed to know. I started with the production unit, then move to the accounting department....as I was explaining to him , the secretary walked on.
(SECRETARY POV)
Excuse me Ma, we just got a new supply. It's the poultry processing equipment Ma.
(ROSIE'S POV)

"Good."as we walked out to receive the supply. On getting to the unit where we received supply, I met the MD.as I greeted bothel the MD and the supplier "Good morning Sir"

Thanks sir. As I looked at it carefully, I noticed that the money wasn't corresponding with what we agreed on. Excuses me Sir, the amount written here sir, is not right. We agreed that the supply will cost us #20k. Why are you inflating it to #30k.

We sat down and talked about the upcoming introduction and the plans for the marriage.
He asked questions about my family, my work and some of the things I had planned before the wedding. I answered respectfully.
At some point, he looked at me seriously.

"Rosie, Jerry is my nephew, but I consider his happiness very important."

Work as been so hectic this day as I tried to packed and prepare for my journey to Delta's for the introduction. While trying to wrap up with work for the day, my phone beep....
Oh! It's my uncle, I was eager to hear how the meeting had gone.

"Uncle, Miguor Sir! As I greeted in our dialect how was it?"

Vwredo my son as I responded to his greeting and immediately bursted out in laugher.
"Jerry, you have chosen well."

I smiled. "Really?"

"Yes. Rosie is respectful and responsible." She's a woman of integrity.

I felt proud.

After Jerry's uncle left, I returned to my work.
I looked at the newly employed manager who had been observing me throughout the day.
"You see why I'm teaching you all these things?"
(TUNDE'S POV)
He smiled. "Yes, ma." Anyway... congratulations !

"I want you to be ready."
(TUNDE'S POV)
"I'll do my best."
(ROSIE'S POV)
"I know you will."
I continued mentoring him until I was satisfied that he understood the important aspects of the job.
Leaving the staff quarters would be a major change in my life. I knew I couldn't continue working and living there forever.
Marriage was going to bring a new chapter. And I wanted to leave knowing that the person taking over from me was properly prepared.

Later that afternoon, I remembered something important.
My MD.
I couldn't simply get married without formally inviting him. He had been supportive of me and had also known about my relationship with Jerry from the beginning.I decided to prepare the invitation cards. I also arranged for bottles of wine to be sent to him as part of the formal invitation.
I looked at the invitation cards before placing them together. My heart filled with excitement. "This is really happening."
I instructed the staff to make sure the invitation cards and wine were delivered properly to my MD. I wanted the gesture to be respectful and thoughtful.
(JERRY'S POV)
That evening, the days work relieving . I knew quite well that she should be resting right now. I need to check on her and our unborn child.. I picked up my phone and started calling her phone..

My heart was warm mainly hearing her voice as I said..

"How is your day going?" As I know he doesn't close on time. Still at the office right?

Yea. Still at the office , when the thought of you and our baby creep in. Was "Very busy" Today. How are you are you doing?

Very well. Just needed to put things in place before leaving. I finally met your uncle today and he seems nice.

I laughed when I heard the excitement in her voice. "I knew you would like him."

There was a short silence..... I also sent the invitation cards and wine to my MD."

"I wanted him to officially receive the invitation from us."

"You did the right thing." As i smiled warmly.
Everything is beginning to fall into place. Please don't over work your self. I need you to be eating well, and resting well too .

After our conversation ended, I heard a deep thoughts while resting on the bed.
Soon, things would change.
Soon, I would leave the staff quarters.
Soon, I would begin a new life with Jerry.
I felt both excited and emotional.
There was still a lot to do.The introduction, The family meetings.The traditional marriage arrangements.The wedding preparations.
But one thing was certain. I was ready.
I picked up my phone and looked at Jerry's picture.
"Very soon," I whispered. "I'll be your wife." Officially! And with that thought, I smiled.
