The room remained quiet for a few moments after my stepbrother sat down.
I could still feel the tension in the air. Everyone seemed to be waiting for someone to say something.
I looked at Jerry.
He was calm, but I could tell that he was thinking carefully about his next words. My heart was beating fast.
I didn't want the introduction to end in disagreement. I didn't want my stepbrother's anger to destroy the happiness we had all gathered to celebrate.
My mother gently touched my hand.

But deep down, I was worried.

I looked around the room.

I continued.
"I respect you as her elder, and I respect the family. If there are things that need to be discussed, I'm willing to listen." Her is the cash for the school bills and the Italian shoe you requested for as I put the money down on the table with baldness.

"We are not here to disrespect anyone. We are here to build a relationship between two families." As the atmosphere gradually became calmer.

I felt a sense of relief.
My stepbrother looked at Jerry for a long time. Then he finally spoke.

The elders began discussing the traditional requirements.
This time, the conversation was much calmer. Each item was mentioned carefully. There were questions. There were explanations. There were occasional disagreements.
But nobody raised their voice. I listened attentively.
Whenever something wasn't clear, I asked respectfully. My uncle also participated in the discussions. Eventually, we reached an understanding.
I felt a huge weight leave my shoulders. As everything was going to be fine.

As the discussions continued, I watched the two families interact.
There was laughter again. The tension that had filled the room earlier was disappearing.
Someone made a joke, and everyone laughed.Even my stepbrother smiled. I couldn't believe how quickly things had changed.
I looked at Jerry as he caught me staring at him then he smiled back.

One of Rosie's relatives came toward me and said.

His words stayed with me. I knew marriage would come with challenges.
If I couldn't control my emotions during a family introduction, how would I handle the challenges that would come later?
I was grateful that I had listened to my uncle.

After the elders finished their discussions, my mother called me.

I stood up.
I walked toward Jerry's family and greeted them respectfully.

I smiled.
"Thank you." Those words touched me. For a moment, I became emotional.
I was being welcomed into Jerry's family. That was one of the moments I would never forget.

When Rosie returned to her seat, I couldn't stop smiling.
She looked beautiful. But beyond her beauty, I was proud of the way she had handled everything. She could have reacted angrily to her stepbrother.
Instead, she remained calm. That was one of the reasons I loved her. As I was in deep thoughts, My uncle called me aside.

The introduction eventually came to an end.
There were handshakes, laughter, photographs and prayers. The atmosphere had completely changed.
What had started with tension ended with happiness. I looked around at the families gathered together. I couldn't believe it.
This was the beginning of something new. Jerry walked toward me.

As we prepared to leave, I looked back at Rosie's family.
I was grateful.

That evening, after everyone had left, I sat quietly in my room.
I was exhausted. But I was happy. I looked at my engagement ring.

I ended the call and smiled. The difficult part was behind us.
