The second story occurs when the Prince is seventeen years old.
According to legend, in the southern part of the Yellow River there is a bridge called the *Yi Nian Bridge where a famous ghost has lived for years.
*(Yi Nian Bridge has many meanings. Yi = one, Nian = memory, thought, ownership, or hope.)
This ghost is very frightening - wearing broken armor; it's foot prints marked with fire from Hell; bleeding wounds covered it's entire body, caused by knives and arrows. With every step a trail of fire and blood would be left behind.
Every few years, he would reveal his hair raising form at night. Wandering under the bridge he stopped pedestrians asking them "Where is this?" "Who am I?!" "What are you going to do now?"
If they answered incorrectly the ghost would swallow them in one bite. No one knew what the right answer was. After several years passed, the ghost had swallowed countless people.
The Prince heard about this problem while traveling. After he found the Yi Nian Bridge he began to guard under the bridge continuously. Finally he met the ghost that was haunting the bridge.
The ghost appeared in an instant! It was just as scary as the rumors had said. The ghost began asking it's first question, "Where is this?"
The Prince answered with a smile, "This is human territory."
The ghost, "this is hell!"
Unfortunately he had answered the first question wrong.
The Prince thought to himself 'I deliberately answered wrong, why wait for the ghost to finish all his questions?' Then he pulled out his weapon to fight.
The battle continued until dusk hit the sky and the land lay in a blanket of darkness. The Prince was very skilled in martial arts, while the ghost became more frightening by the second. One human and one ghost fought until the position of the sun changed and the ghost was defeated.
After the ghost disappeared the Prince planted a flowering tree at the foot of the bridge. A priest passed by and saw, the Prince surrendering a handful of golden land to escort the ghost to his next life. The priest, "What are you doing?"
The Prince quoted the very famous words, "The body is in Hell, but the soul is in Heaven."
When the priest heard this, he smiled then transformed revealing a god in extravagant white armor. He then ascend a magic cloud, brought forth a strong gust of wind and sailed toward the sun. The Prince realized that he had just met the Heavenly Emperor God of War who descended into the human world to conquer the devil.
The Gods watched as the incredible 'War God' jumped into the sky on the day of the Parade. After meeting him at the foot of Yi Nian Bridge, the Gods began to ask the Emperor, "What do you think of this venerable prince?"
That night, the sky of the Royal Palace became dark and started poring rain causing damage to the palace. Between the flash of lightning and roaring thunder, His Royal Highness the Prince ascended into the sky where the Gods were.
Every time someone rises to the sky, the surge will vibrate once, but when His Royal Highness ascended, it caused Heaven to experience vibrations three times.
(To achieve eternal life through effort and insight is really difficult. It takes talent from birth, a very prestigious business, and the right opportunity. Being reborn as a respected god is an endless lifetime journey.)
Someone who is young ascending to the world of Gods then turn into an arrogant person is not something to never happen in Heaven, but there are also people who spend their lives developing themselves that still cannot achieve immortality. Even when they get a chance from Heaven, if they cannot overcome heavenly misery then they will die or become useless. Like grains of sand in a desert countless humans have a mediocre life from beginning to end, unable to find the right path because of their ignorance.
Likewise the Prince who is a heavenly darling had nothing he couldn't achieve. There was nothing he could not do and when he wanted to ascend to Heaven, he was right to do it and ascend Heaven at the young age of seventeen.
His Highness the Prince was very well known among his people. Being the favorite son of the Emperor and Empress, they ordered that temples be built using the Prince's name in every corner of the country. People would come to pay their respects to statues in his likeness. The more worshipers he had, the more temples they built giving the Prince a longer life. In just a few years the State of Xian Le reached the peak of it's power.
