Li Hua woke up to the sound of a door slamming closed.
She sat up and looked to see who had arrived. She was disappointed to see it was only the doctor.
The doctor checked her ankle and reapplied her bandages.
"You're recovering pretty well. A few more days and you'll be able to leave."
"Ok." She was ready to leave the hospital. She was sick of feeling confined to one place.
Her room was very bare. There was nothing much to do but watch tv, look out the windows, or read.
She grabbed the remote and flipped through the channels. There was nothing really interesting on so she settled on a random channel.
She watched for a few hours before reading a magazine when she heard a knock at the door.
It was probably the doctor again.
"Come in!" She said without looking.
"I see your doing well." A deep voice said.
This wasn't the doctor. She looked towards the door and standing there was Su LingTian. In his hand was a bag. Seeing her stare he quickly explained,
"I brought lunch." He shrugged.
He walked towards her and sat down in the chair. He put the bag on the side table and took out the food.
Seeing the food her eyes were wide. These were all her favorites! There was sweet and sour chicken, stir fry, and dumplings.
Seeing her face, he let out a small chuckle.
"I remember that you liked these."
She looked at him. He remembered? She didn't remember talking a lot about food so she was surprised.
"Yeah."
They grabbed their food and ate in silence.
Once they finished, Su LingTian looked at her.
"How is your ankle? Is it healing ok. I meant to visit yesterday but I got held back."
Looking at her foot she sighed, "Apparently it's healing fast. I should be able to leave soon."
"That's good. Aside from your leg, how have you been? It's been a while."
She looked down.
"You're telling me. I've been good. You?"
"I'm good."
He started to feel nervous,
"Listen I have something to ask you."
"What is I-"
She was about to speak when suddenly his phone rang. Looking at the caller I.D. He sighed.
"I'll have to take this, give me one second."
He walked out the room and began speaking with the person on the phone.
Li Hua sat in the bed and patiently waited. Her heart started to beat rapidly.
'What did he have to ask her? Was it important?'
Realizing her thoughts she cursed herself.
For gods sake she was 23 not a teenager.
"So it's true."
She looked at the door and saw someone standing there.
Li Yan!?
Li Yan walked in and smirked at Li Hua.
"So you are in the hospital? How pathetic."
"Get out."
"You can be as angry as you want but you better watch what you say. One wrong word and I can make your life even more of a living hell."
"Don't think so highly of yourself. I wouldn't waste a breath on you." Li Hua scoffed.
Li Yan clenched her hands. How dare she?! Surely she recognized the position she was in. She was about to yell when she calmed herself down.
Walking towards Li Hua she leaned down and grabbed her hands.
"Stop acting so tough. All your troubles will end if you just come home and do as father says. You can go back to that comfortable life you're used to instead of sleeping in some dirty hotel."
Come home? She didn't have a home. That was a prison. If she married Gu Ming she might as well give up on life.
"Never."
Seeing Li Hua still wouldn't comply she stood back up.
"Fine."
She walked to the window and fixed her hair in the reflection.
"Have it how you want. I just thought I'd try to offer peace before it got too late. Don't look to me for help. With some luck you'll probably become a home-wrecker just like your mother."
She walked to the door but stopped. She turned to look at Li Hua.
"Aww don't be so sad, Big sis loves you." She laughed as she walked out.
She proudly walked down the hall towards the elevator when she thought she saw someone familiar pass her.
She turned around to see who it was but all she saw was the persons back. She looked at her watch, she had somewhere to be in an hour so she had to leave.
Su LingTian had finished the call and was on his way back to the room when he noticed a woman walking down the hall.
If he wasn't mistaken that was Li Yan? He had no intention of talking to her so he ignored her. He walked into Li Hua's room but immediately noticed that something was off.
"What's wrong? Is it your ankle?" He rushed over.
"I'm fine." Seeing how frantic he was she felt conflicted. This was the man who she thought had forgotten about her and here he was right there concerned about her.
Su LingTian looked up at her and returned her gaze.
"Li Hua do you want to turn your life around?"
Hearing his question she was surprised.
"What do you me-"
"Marry me."
