Chapter 91 - The Cup in Her Hands

Yeon Joo had been repeating to herself that the entire dinner was nothing more than a performance when Concubine Seo reached across the low table for one of the dishes placed near Lee Yeong. The woman leaned farther than necessary, the sleeve of her pale rose robe sliding over the edge of the table, and when she drew herself back she somehow lost her balance in precisely the direction of the King. Lee Yeong reacted before she could strike the corner of the table, catching her around the waist as Concubine Seo landed sideways across his lap with a soft gasp. Her arm immediately curved around his shoulder for support, but instead of pushing herself upright after recovering, she remained there with her head lowered and one palm resting lightly against the front of his robe. "Forgive this concubine, Jeonha. I reached too far and became careless."
