Euphoria had been living under constant anxiety while trapped with Hayes, and now that she was safe, an immense wave of relief washed over her.
She found a smooth, flat stone, collapsed onto it, and mumbled, "I am completely exhausted, I just want to sleep."
"Go ahead and rest, I will go hunt for some food, but keep your guard up," Xie said, gently stroking her hair before heading outside.
By the time Xie returned, Euphoria was already fast asleep, and he had to gently shake her awake so she could eat.
After forcing down a few bites of cooked meat, Euphoria immediately drifted off again. Since night had fallen, there was nothing left to do but sleep.
