The next morning, Robert Gladstone arrived at the police station expecting to receive an update.
He walked into the station with confidence. He had been receiving information about Loretta's case before. This time, he wanted to use the opportunity to ask to see Loretta. Using his identity as her father, he did not think it would be a problem. This way, he would secretly get her hair samples for another DNA test.
He approached the reception desk. "I'd like an update on the Loretta Goodman investigation."
The officer looked up. "Your name, sir?"
He was surprised that the man would ask that question, but he answered anyway. "Robert Gladstone."
The officer entered his name into the system and checked the records. After a few seconds, his expression became more serious.
"I'm sorry, sir. I'm unable to give you any information about the case," the officer said.
Robert frowned. "What do you mean?"
