MONDAY — GOODMAN COMPANY
Monday morning began normally at Goodman Company.
Employees moved through the lobby, executives went in and out of meetings, and the usual stream of visitors passed through the reception area.
Among them was a man in his early forties wearing a dark business suit and carrying a laptop bag.
He introduced himself as a network security consultant who was meeting with the CEO. Kevin had given him the code name Daniel Cole.
The receptionist checked his appointment before making a call upstairs.
A few minutes later, the company's IT manager arrived.
"Mr. Cole?"
Daniel nodded.
"Yes."
"I'm Martin. I'll take you upstairs."
They entered the elevator.
Daniel remained quiet as they went up.
The police had sent him to Goodman Company under the cover of a routine network security audit. His real objective was much more specific.
