The sky above Heaven was healing.
Slowly.
Painfully.
Beautifully.
Crimson-black light spread through the broken seal like veins repairing a wounded heart, while silver flames from the hunters stabilised the collapsing barriers around the city.
The impossible thing was still happening.
Hunters and vampires fought together beneath the same sky.
Interesting.
Very historic.
Very interesting.
The Devourer hated it.
Good.
I approved of anything that emotionally damaged ancient horrors.
The creature stood in the centre of the ruined avenue surrounded by burning darkness, its body flickering violently as the throne's evolving power spread through Heaven.
For the first time since appearing—
It looked unstable.
Not physically.
Emotionally.
Excellent.
Seraphina stood beside me, crimson-black flames dancing around her body like royal fury given shape.
Selene's moonlight covered the ruined streets in silver frost, calming civilians and slowing lesser Devourers simultaneously.
Lilith coordinated vampire clans and hunter formations with terrifying efficiency.
Valeria was somewhere nearby, enthusiastically solving problems through violence.
As expected.
Raphael stood at my right, silver spear lowered slightly, while his hunters secured the outer districts.
Not enemies anymore.
Not exactly allies either.
Something stranger.
Trust is built in the middle of war.
Interesting.
Very dangerous.
Very interesting.
The Devourer looked upward at the healing sky.
Then back at me.
Its crimson eyes were burning with something more than rage.
Confusion.
Interesting.
Very important.
Very interesting.
"You changed them."
Its voice echoed unnaturally through the ruined streets.
I raised an eyebrow.
"Who?"
The creature pointed toward the city.
Toward hunters protecting vampires.
Toward vampires carrying wounded humans.
Toward Heaven itself, rewriting centuries of hatred in real time.
"The pattern."
Silence.
Because there it was again.
The thing older than kingdoms.
Fear repeated itself until people called it tradition.
I looked around slowly.
At the battlefield.
At the impossible becoming normal.
Then answered honestly—
"No."
A pause.
"They changed themselves."
The Devourer's expression twisted slightly.
Like the answer offended it.
Good.
Truth usually did.
Raphael stepped forward beside me.
"You believed monsters and humans could only destroy each other."
Silver flames rose around his spear.
"You were wrong."
Interesting.
Very interesting.
The Devourer looked at him carefully.
"And yet you still plan to kill him afterwards."
Straight to emotional violence.
Bold.
Raphael went silent.
Tiny silence.
Important silence.
I looked sideways at him.
"Well?"
Valeria appeared suddenly beside us, covered in black blood and emotional satisfaction.
"Yes, Commander."
She grinned.
"We're all curious now."
Raphael looked deeply exhausted.
Fair.
Very fair.
He answered without looking at me.
"I don't know."
Silence.
Interesting.
Very interesting.
Because that was the first truly honest thing he'd said since this war began.
The Devourer laughed softly.
"There."
Its darkness spread wider.
"Doubt."
A pause.
"It always begins there."
Wrong answer.
Again.
I stepped forward slowly.
The crimson-black aura surrounding me pulsed in rhythm with the queens' bloodlines.
Not consuming.
Harmonising.
The throne felt… peaceful.
Interesting.
Very emotional.
Very interesting.
"You misunderstand something."
The Devourer's crimson eyes narrowed.
"What?"
I smiled faintly.
"Doubt isn't weakness."
Silence.
Raphael looked at me sideways.
The hunters nearby listened too.
Good.
They should.
I continued—
"People who never doubt themselves become monsters faster than anyone else."
A pause.
"Because certainty is addictive."
Heavy silence settled over the ruined city.
Because everyone understood exactly who I meant.
Priests.
Kings.
Devourers.
History itself.
The Devourer's darkness flickered violently.
Interesting.
Very interesting.
Then—
Lucian appeared beside the throne again.
Not fully real.
A memory woven into bloodline resonance and evolving destiny.
The First King looked around the battlefield silently.
Hunters and vampires standing together.
At the healing sky.
Elena was approaching slowly through the ruined streets.
And for the first time—
Lucian looked happy.
Not bittersweet.
Not tragic.
Actually happy.
Interesting.
Very beautiful.
Very interesting.
Elena stopped in front of him, trembling.
Centuries of grief stood between them.
Good.
Some love deserved to survive long enough to heal.
Lucian touched her face gently.
Not fully physical.
But enough.
Elena closed her eyes instantly.
And broke.
Not loudly.
Not dramatically.
Just quietly.
Like someone finally allowing themselves to stop carrying pain alone.
The entire battlefield became still.
Because even wars respected grief that old.
Lucian smiled softly at her.
"You waited too long."
Elena laughed weakly through tears.
"You died too early."
Silence.
Perfect.
Beautiful.
The Devourer watched them with unreadable eyes.
Interesting.
Very interesting.
Lucian finally turned toward me.
Toward the queens.
Toward Raphael.
And then toward the healing sky above Heaven.
The First King spoke quietly—
"I thought love would weaken my resolve."
A pause.
"I was wrong."
The throne pulsed behind him.
Warm.
Alive.
Lucian continued—
"It was loneliness that weakened me."
Silence.
Absolute.
Because there it was.
The truth that destroyed centuries of tragedy.
Not sacrifice.
Isolation.
The Devourer's darkness became unstable again.
"No."
Interesting.
Very interesting.
Lucian looked at the creature calmly.
"You told me kings must stand alone."
The First King smiled faintly.
"And I believed you."
That one landed.
Hard.
Because suddenly—
The Devourer didn't look like a conqueror anymore.
It looked like a manipulator finally losing control of the story.
Excellent.
I approved deeply.
Lucian stepped beside me.
Ghost and successor standing together.
Interesting.
Very symbolic.
Very emotionally expensive.
He looked toward the queens first.
Seraphina met his gaze without fear.
Selene bowed her head slightly.
Lilith stood like royalty, recognising royalty.
Valeria waved enthusiastically.
Amazing woman.
Never change.
Lucian laughed softly.
Then looked at Raphael.
"The hunter who learnt doubt."
Raphael looked deeply uncomfortable.
Reasonable.
Lucian's smile widened slightly.
"Good."
A pause.
"Only fools believe certainty makes them righteous."
Interesting.
Very accurate.
Very interesting.
The Devourer suddenly roared.
Darkness exploded outward violently enough to destroy entire buildings nearby.
The lesser devourers screamed in response.
The creature's red eyes were blazing with rage now.
"You speak as if destiny changed!"
Lucian looked at it calmly.
Then toward me.
Toward the queens.
Toward the world healing itself around us.
And answered softly—
"It already has."
Silence.
Absolute.
The sky above Heaven cracked one final time—
then sealed completely.
Crimson-black light spread across the heavens like dawn after endless night.
The Devourer froze.
The lesser creatures screamed in panic.
Interesting.
Very important.
Very interesting.
The seal was restored.
No.
Better than restored.
Changed.
The throne had rewritten it.
Not a prison built through sacrifice.
A barrier sustained through connection.
Impossible.
Beautiful.
Terrifying.
The Devourer stared upward slowly.
And for the first time—
The ancient monster looked afraid of the future.
Excellent.
Lucian looked at me one final time.
His crimson eyes are calm now.
Peaceful.
"You reached the ending I couldn't."
Silence.
I looked at him.
At the first king.
The man's history turned into tragedy because no one taught him he deserved to survive, too.
Then I answered quietly—
"No."
A pause.
"We changed it together."
Lucian smiled.
Warm.
Proud.
And slowly—
The First King began fading into crimson light.
Elena reached for him instinctively.
Lucian touched her hand one final time.
Then looked toward heaven.
Toward the throne.
Toward all of us.
And whispered—
"Live longer than sorrow."
The light scattered into the sky.
Gone.
Not lonely anymore.
Free.
Silence covered Heaven.
And somewhere deep inside the throne—
The last grief of the first king finally disappeared.
Interesting.
Very beautiful.
Very final.
The Devourer looked at all of us standing together beneath the healed sky.
And for the first time in its ancient existence—
It understood something terrifying.
The war had already been lost.
Not because humanity became stronger.
Because humanity finally learned it didn't have to survive alone.
Author's Thoughts
Thank you for reading Chapter 58.
Lucian's story has finally ended.
Not with tragedy.
Not with loneliness.
But with peace.
The truth of the throne has been revealed:
Love did not weaken the First King.
Isolation did.
And now the ending Lucian never reached…
belongs to Aarav.
