"I... I know you," Alex stammered, his voice shaking as he pointed a trembling hand. "You're Lawson. You're Emily's father. How... how are you alive? Everyone thinks you died six years ago!"
Lawson let out a dry, bitter laugh, the sound hollow inside the concrete room. He ran a scarred hand over his face, looking older than his years.
"That was what you wanted, wasn't it? You and your uncle, Tony and your father Louis. You all planned to get rid of me and steal my company after I found out the sinkhole was Torredo's fault and not Lawson Holding."
"I swear, I never knew. I only found out last year and I have been helping Emily."
Lawson weighed him. For a moment, he didn't know whether to trust him or not. He had been betrayed in the past several times by a Torredo and his daughter was still being held captive.
Minutes later, they were both seated on the floor separated by the steel door locking Alex in the cell.
