"Alex!" Louis screamed.
For the first time in six months, sincere joy broke through the hardened features of Louis Torredo. A tearful smile cut across his face as he hurried down the chaotic path the panicking crowd had instinctively cleared for him.
Louis reached him and thrust his arms tightly around his son, holding him as if he could physically pull him back from the dead.
Alex remained completely stiff in his father's embrace. His eyes completely bypassed his father, locking with protective focus onto Emily as she struggled to yank herself from the bruising grip of Tony's guards.
Tony stepped closer to them, his posture rigid, his mind firing with rapid, desperate calculations. His pulse hiked, but his face remained calm. He was praying, hoping that Alex didn't suspect a single thing about the airfield execution order.
