(KAELEN'S POV)
"You shouldn't be doing that."
I dumped the large barbell on the ground with a grunt.
I knew who it was even before she spoke. It was not just her scent which I had perceived, it was also her footsteps, imprinted in my brain even while I was far away from her for many years.
"You only just started recovering, take it easy on yourself." She was saying as she came closer to me.
I sat down, wiping my face with a small napkin. My mother stood before me, graciously dressed in a simple but elegant white dress that fell to the ground.
"Hey mother." I greeted with a gruff in my voice.
She handed me a half opened bottle of water that was on the counter.
"I saw the headlines." She announced.
"You don't seem pleased." I commented before taking a good gulp of water.
"What should I be pleased about, Kaelen?" She asjed, folding her arms across her chest.
Her face looked sad, her voice sounded stern but I noticed her hands gripping her elbows.
