When Baishui and Akainu arrived at the Marine port, the warship was already prepped and ready to set sail!
However, seeing Baishui trailing behind Akainu, many of the crew members didn't recognize him. They found it incredibly strange that a mere Major was boarding the ship.
After all, on this particular warship, there were very few officers with a rank lower than Major. When an Admiral went to war, his subordinates naturally couldn't be weaklings. And a Major... well, that was a bit on the weak side.
"His name is Baishui. You all should have heard of him," Akainu stated.
Once Akainu introduced him, collective murmurs of realization rippled through the crew. So this was the famous Baishui.
So he's this young... No wonder Admiral Sakazuki brought him along! the crew thought to themselves.
They truly hadn't expected Baishui to be so youthful. Even though he was over twenty-one, he looked as young as a kid who had just come of age.
"Enough. Disperse and return to your stations!" Akainu ordered sternly, casting a sharp glance over the men.
"Sir, yes sir!" the crew saluted in unison. It was obvious they held a deep reverence and fear for Akainu.
"These are the locations of our previous skirmishes with World. Take a look."
Akainu pulled a map from his coat and tossed it to Baishui, before standing at the bow of the ship like a towering, immovable statue.
"Huh. World's route seems to be pointing in a single direction. Admiral Sakazuki, is World in desperate need of a ship?" After analyzing the trajectory of World's clashes with the Marines, Baishui's eyes drifted toward a massive point on the map—Water 7!
"The old man Sengoku was right. You really are sharp. You just lack discipline. Otherwise, you would absolutely be one of the strongest contenders for the next generation of Marine Admirals!"
Hearing Baishui's deduction, Sakazuki offered a rare word of praise, looking down at the younger Marine.
Standing at nearly three meters tall, Sakazuki made Baishui look like a child in comparison; Baishui had to crane his neck just to speak to him.
"Yes, it's exactly as you said. World is looking for a ship to set sail once again. If he succeeds, the Marines will lose all face."
"Therefore, no matter the cost, we must bring him in. In the name of Absolute Justice!" Sakazuki declared, his voice heavy and resolute.
He truly lived up to his reputation as a man of iron and blood. Just as expected, to uphold the dignity of the Marines, there was truly nothing he wouldn't do.
"Let's just focus on finding him first. If he's managed to gather a crew by now, things might get a little tricky!" Baishui joked.
"We can't rule out the possibility. A legendary pirate like World could easily recruit a few capable subordinates, couldn't he?" Akainu replied, sitting cross-legged on the deck in a rare moment of relaxed posture.
"Let's hope my guess doesn't come true, otherwise it really will be a headache. For a powerhouse like him, a bounty of 500 million Berries seems a bit low. It should be at least 650 million!"
Thanks to his memories from his past life, Baishui knew exactly how terrifying Byrnndi World's strength was.
In the original storyline, his escape shook the entirety of Marine Headquarters. Even the Seven Warlords of the Sea were summoned, and Akainu himself was deployed. That alone was enough to show how seriously Sengoku took the threat of World.
"Indeed. But to save face for the World Government and appease the anger of the Celestial Dragons, Magellan and the Marines have to take the fall. That's why they only issued a 500 million bounty!" Akainu grumbled, biting down hard on his cigar, his face full of blatant dissatisfaction.
"What can you do? It's not like we're the ones in charge," Baishui waved his hand dismissively, completely resigned to the fact.
The World Government was the ultimate boss, after all.
