Chapter - 3 Moon in the Mirror
Rasa was holding a mirror and looking at his reflection while sitting on the stone platforms in front of his home.
The houses of Suna are usually built a little elevated from ground. He was sitting in the middle step.
The mirror reflected the image of a five year old boy. To be honest he looked like a villain, even with the cuteness buffer of a child. The dark hair with red patches made him feel like a delinquent in his rebellious phase. But this hair also gave him some comfort…. maybe…? Just maybe he may not have snatched this child's body. Maybe he reincarnated as Rasa, but except for the hair everything else was the same. He let out a sigh and decided to let it go.
His mothers funeral was over two days ago, there were not many people attending it. She was buried in the north graveyard; the village will arrange the funeral for even for retired ninjas. It was kind of a relief he had no idea how to arrange a funeral in a militarized village.
with all the work that followed he had not gotten enough time to think things over.
What will be his future? He is in Suna not Konoha. He can lie down flat here with almost no problems. There will be no Pain invasion or any other bullshit related to plot. And if the sky falls one day there will be people there to hold it up. He mused while looking up at the half moon.
But..
Honestly he had enough of playing safe for one life. He decided to go big this time. to have your own destiny in your own hand and stuff.
With that thought in mind, he took out the book his mother left him for the first time.
The first two pages were empty. He expected a heart felt note or something, but there was none. From the third page there was an index. She had neatly organised everything she knew and everything he should know in a neatly packed system. It made him realise she had been preparing a long time for her departure. He doesn't know how to feel about it. He let out another sigh and started to flip through the dense text idly.
After some time he came back to the index and this time started to read them carefully. He looked at the index again and noticed a section marked with a red label important. He quickly turned the pages and found the intended page. and it was already a message from Hikari, his mother.
"Dear Ra...
I know you will be sad, but mother had been holding on for so long. Your old mother also needs some rest, you know. Still I know you are strong, that's why I decided to finally let go. It is hard you know to leave you alone and go off on my own, but Rasa you have to remember the road is what you walk yourself and mother has lost her strength to accompany you. So I chose to abandon you cruelly?.That there is all to it. I can say you will understand me when you grow up but no one can truly understand each other. so you can take it however you want. Mother won't rob you of your autonomy.
Now let's talk about your future. You will be joining Ninja academy in next April. There will be a 6 month gap. You can get in easily with your current skill level, but I'm opening another door for you. There is a wooden box in the second row of the cupboard. Inside is a letter addressed to Your fathers master, Mr.Arashi known as the storm blade He was also my Jonin instructor. He is one of the most experienced ninjas currently in the village. He is also a grumpy old man and will never agree to teach if he has any other choice. So this can be said to be my last gift to you. Ain't I awesome? Just by not existing I brought you a Jonin teacher before the academy.
He is an incredible Ninja, your father and I respected him greatly. So show him respect when you see him! Also he is not as kind as me so be prepared for some tough times.I know you will almost certainly go, but the choice is always yours, this is what we adults call an illusion of choice you can only break it by finding your own path little Ra…. Your mother is happy here, take care of yourself. Bye…
NB: Go to him in the early morning or after 9PM.
He was kind of miffed after reading this. She was half his age How dare she call herself an old woman
Sigh....
He has been sighing a lot lately like an old man, but he was also in a good mood. Who in their right mind didn't want to have a Jonin as a free teacher. but he has never heard of him from the original work. She said he was old, maybe he was too old at the time of cannon. The Third Kazekage was only in office for a few years and he is the same generation as Hiruzen. Whatever, he will know him when he sees him.
He was ready to move back into the house but, while standing up he saw the reflection of a half moon in the mirror. His mood turned sour immediately. The moon looked like it was mocking him with an ugly smile. He stood there for a moment, deep in thought, after some time he just smiled back. The smile looked bright but his eyes were cold.
