Chapter 84 - CHAPTER EIGHTY FIVE

It was exactly midnight on the first of April when Aaron woke up from being shaken by his wife. "What is it, love?" He asked in alarm, feeling a wetness underneath him. "My water just broke, Aaron. I'm having the baby." Elena tried to steady her voice as her contractions began at intervals. "What? Now?" Aaron asked, wide awake this time. Elena nodded, squirming from the sharp pain she just felt from another contraction. This was too soon; the baby was not due for another month. How is it that her water has broken then? That too at midnight. "Okay, sweetheart, breathe," Aaron instructed calmly, to soothe his wife, who looked like she would scream any moment now. Getting up, he gathered her in his arms, heading downstairs for the hospital when, "Ah!!" Elena's first scream came right into his ears. The ride to the hospital seemed endless as Elena felt excruciating pain. Aaron made a quick call to have midwives stand by at the OBY/GYN ward. They finally arrived, and Elena's screams could be heard at all corners of the hospital. A nurse brought a wheelchair, in which Aaron placed her, pushing her himself. It hurt, and it was so darn uncomfortable. After an hour of active labor, the world welcomed the first son of the Wilson family, Elena, reaching for her baby boy, while the doctors took care of things down there. It was a mixture of emotions in the ward as Elena shed tears, looking at her son. Unlike Ellen, this baby looked like his father, an exact carbon copy. "Welcome to the world and the family, Junior," Elena whispered to the baby who was sucking her breast hungrily. "I'm already jealous of him. He seems to be getting what I want." Aaron said shamelessly, to the shock of the nurses around. They didn't know Dr. Wilson had this side to him. The man was always professional and stoic. "Here, let them take him, so you can have some rest," Aaron said after Junior was done sucking. They had decided on Aaron Wilson Junior after they found out he was a boy. Ellen was the one who suggested the name even. "It's only fair since I was named after mom." She had said. She was elated to hear they were expecting her baby brother back in the States when she was getting better. Ellen had wanted to share the news with Henry and tell him his prediction was right, but grew solemn when she realized she was still hung up on the guy after everything. "I like it." Elena had agreed, bringing back the smile that had almost disappeared from her daughter's face. "It's decided then, Aaron Wilson Junior it is. You have no idea how proud and happy that makes me." Aaron chimed in, kissing his wife. … Elena handed over her baby and lay down to rest, thinking about how happy her daughter would have been to see her brother. She gave out a heavy sigh, which alarmed Aaron. "Are you alright? Are you hurting anywhere?" He asked his wife, positioning her head on his chest, as he joined her on the bed. "No, I just wish Ama was here to see her little brother. She was very excited to meet him. How long do you think she will be in a coma for? It's been three months, Aaron. Why hasn't our daughter woken up?" Elena asked with sorrow. "You don't have to think about that now, honey, you just gave birth, and I'm sure it's because you've been too stressed about Ellen. I told you, she's fine now, most of her tests came out fine, we have to wait till she wakes up to conduct more, but the problem is, she doesn't want to wake up, Elena. We've done everything we could; we even performed plastic surgery because of how badly her face was damaged, and it's healing, but our daughter refuses to wake up. There's only so much we can do as doctors…" Aaron explained calmly. "What about as parents? What can we do for her? It's enough that she's not going to have the same face, and God knows what other damages we might have overlooked; now she doesn't want to wake up? Do you think it's because I told her she's no longer my daughter?... (sobs) I just wish we could start over. My daughter deserves more than this. I wish I could give her a new life away from all of this." Elena sobbed while Aaron tried to soothe her. They finally fell asleep as it was late at night, but Aaron was not in the room when Elena woke up.
