Willow West walked to the door and grabbed the fire extinguisher from the corner. 'Just waiting for some unlucky bastard to be the first one in!'
The door opened, and light from the hallway spilled into the pitch-black room.
The instant someone stepped through the door, Willow West brought the fire extinguisher in her hands crashing down without hesitation.
But apparently, more than one person had arrived. After the first one was struck by the extinguisher, there was a loud THUD. Then, someone else kicked the stunned man straight into the room.
After a muffled grunt, the man collapsed to the floor and went still.
The lights in the room suddenly flickered on. Aiden Pierce, his face taut, walked in to see a woman still holding a fire extinguisher, her doe-like eyes wide with astonishment.
"What are you doing here!"
"Are you okay?"
They both spoke at once.
Seeing that Willow West was unharmed, the knot of anxiety in Aiden Pierce's chest finally loosened.
