Who could possibly accept that?
Evelyn Grant simply couldn't believe it!
She refused to give up.
Finally, after glancing at Julian Sterling, she took the phone and dialed Ryan Sterling's number!
The phone rang. Once, twice...
Evelyn Grant's heart leaped into her throat.
She desperately hoped there was something wrong with the number—that this was just another one of Julian Sterling's schemes.
'That way, I wouldn't have to endure being deceived and toyed with all over again...'
Evelyn Grant couldn't even bear to think any further.
She just prayed the number wasn't real, that it wasn't really Ryan Sterling on the other end.
But it was as if the heavens were playing a cruel joke on Evelyn Grant!
The call connected.
Ryan Sterling's voice came through the receiver.
"Hello? Mom."
"..."
She looked up to see Julian Sterling staring back, one of his thick eyebrows slightly raised.
At that moment, Evelyn Grant felt as if her heart had stopped beating entirely.
