Chapter 11 - War Changes People (pt.3)

.

20 Year's Before the Invasion

.

"The reports conclude that the extraterrestrial research department have made contact with an alien species. Attempts of orchestrating an ally have proved futile and are deemed a potential hostile species. Though, efforts of trade have been established. We receive advanced technological machinery, and in return we hide them from the intergalactic federation."

Everyone within the board room had listened intently. Many were curious while others were anxious at the thought of interacting with a mysterious species that were more advanced than humanity as a whole.

"This report was established two years ago. As of today, scientists have discovered otherworld's not known to this reality. Although we cannot access these worlds, materials seemed to have bypassed some dimensional barrier and landed in our world. After countless trials and errors, we have officially created a weapon for humanity in case of an invasion."

"Where is it?"

Whispers and subtle murmurs could be heard, yet the announcer did not let that deter him.

"We are currently still working on it in the lab."

Unbeknownst to everyone that wasn't in the research department, an illegal experiment had been taking place to intertwine an android computational consciousness to a human being consciousness.

This was project 4245 'Alpha-Omega'.

.

The Day of The Invasion

.

The day that every government official feared had arrived. The temporary trading pact that was established had been rendered null when the intergalactic federation had found where the alien species were hiding.

Despite humanities lack of resources for deep space travel, the alien species still blamed humanity for the lack of protection. Thus, they decided to invade the planet and enslave humanity.

Fortunately for humanity, the government had predicted this years ago and developed an android with specs from different realities. Though to keep the android from going haywire, they've connected a human child consciousness minutes after its birth, labeling this child 'Alpha-Omega'.

Once the beam had made contact with the surface of the planet, the government released project 4245 into the world with the objective of finding 'Alpha-Omega' and discover the weakness of the invading species.

.

The Present

.

The rising dust cloud had settled, revealing the destruction that tore through the abandoned city. What they didn't expect, was Yuriko to be standing next to a pile of rubble. Her clothes tattered, exposing skin that was scratched and dirty from the dust.

"At least we know she isn't immune to damage. Now everyone, switch!"

Once Mikey had issued this command, everyone had broken out of their stupor and nodded, showing that they understood.

This time Uriel had taken a step forward, though his demeanor clearly showed that he was bored of this farce. Thus, he snapped his finger toward Yukiro and in that instant of time, the entire space around her had become a vacuum.

But much to Uriel's surprise, Yukiro had already leapt back with great distance just as he snapped his finger, narrowly avoiding the sudden low-density space.

Then a series of vacuum's began to rapidly generate toward Yukiro as if she were being targeted, forcing her to continue evading the near-empty low-density spatial attack.

To observers, it appeared as if a streak of pink and black were dancing across the city. Yet Uriel remained where he stood with a subtle grin on his once bored expression.

After a while, Yuriko eventually landed on the rooftop of a smaller building just as Uriel had ceased his attack. Unfortunately, she did not have enough time to rest.

Uriel had appeared without a trace of external momentum, standing with his hands in his pockets and a full-blown grin on his face.

"Make this interesting for me, yeah?"

"You cocky bastard. I like your attitude."

Yuriko had blurred forward with a hook already thrown toward Uriel's chin. Yet, the young enforcer had already prepared for this and blocked the strike by parrying her fist.

Then he struck fast, two swift jabs that landed on Yukiro's chin and chest, forcing her to take a step back.

"Not bad."

Yukiro regathered her bearings quicker than Uriel anticipated, allowing Yukiro to capitalize on the moment and deliver a lethal hook to the right side of his body, by slipping low and using her hip to further drive her fist into his ribcage.

Though due to Uriel's superhuman body enhanced with a layer of spatial energy, he barely moved a step and was already once again on the offensive, delivering a spinning top kick to the side of Yukiro's temple.

Meanwhile, Mikey and the others stood on the sideline, observing the fast-paced battle taking place.

"I can confidently say that Uriel is the strongest when it comes to ability usage. Mikey, your ability might be godsend but the way Uriel control's his ability is unrivaled."

.

After Uriel had sent Yuriko skidding toward the edge of the building, he ran forward at the same time, grabbing her face with an iron grip and leaping from the building rooftop.

Yuriko had managed to break free from Uriel's grasp and land a solid gut-wrenching punch to his abdomen, sending Uriel reeling further into the sky and past the clouds.

"Enough games."

A bead of sweat fell down Yuriko's forehead due to the strain of having to defend herself more than she ever had in her life. Though she refused to admit it aloud, she was slowly beginning to feel overwhelmed by the series of powerful coordinated attacks.

Thus, she decided to use one of her top ten powerful techniques to turn the tide of the battle.

First Dimensional Gate - Open

Suddenly, a burst of ethereal blue energy intertwined with a deep black mist had begun to exude from Yuriko's body, like a broken dam holding back a large body of water.

The sheer potency of this ethereal energy began to distort the surrounding space, until the energy subsided and gathered in a single point above her palm.

It shone with an immense luminosity, causing everyone to turn their head's or squint their eyes to avoid being blinded, giving Yuriko the opportunity to attack.

Uriel had sensed the dimensional barrier between realities being forced open and prepared himself to defend against the powerful spatial attack but then he realized something, yet it was too late before he could react.

Yuriko had already sent the sphere of condensed demonic infused mana toward Emily and Mikey, who were unfortunate enough to be caught by surprise.

In a beat of a heart, the condensed demonic infused mana had violently exploded outward, tearing open a rift through the dimensional construct and revealing the other side of a new world beyond the current reality they resided in.

Due to the unnatural and forceful means of opening a dimensional gate, reality had attempted to fix the mistake by rebuilding itself, causing everything within the immediate area to be forcibly sucked through and ejected out the other side.

"Oh shi-"

"Ah-"

.

Mikey eyes fluttered open after what felt like hours of being submerged in darkness.

The first thing that caught his attention was Emily, who had been quietly observing him from her seated position on a boulder.

"You're finally awake. That demon had sent us to another world outside of our reality's jurisdiction. From what I've gathered with my quantum-processing unit, this is a world where magic dominates all."

"So that mean's my core doesn't work here?"

"That should've been the case. Yet it seems like your core truly embodies the concept of mathematics. By this I mean, you are still capable of wielding the same abilities as before as it draws from the quantum foam. But from what I've deduced, it limited the amount of information you can process by separating our reality and the other realities and only feeding you our reality information."

"I see. So, now that we've been sent to another world, it's forced to rewrite this separation and abide by this reality rules?"

"Yes."

Mikey had gone silent once his question had been confirmed. Though he didn't want to admit it, he could feel the change in his core as it adjusted to the new reality while also processing the things he learnt from his original reality.

"What do we do now? I've never even thought it was possible to travel between realities ."

"It's simple. We learn as much as we can about this world, then use my knowledge of the dimensional gate to get us back."

"Then I guess we should head to the nearest town."

Mikey had finally stood up after laying on the floor for a couple of minutes since he had woken up. Emily had then climbed down from the boulder she sat on, dusting her skirt off from any dust and walking east of their position.

"The nearest town is east of here."

Mikey nodded and began walking alongside her, a subtle sigh escaping his lips as his thoughts drifted to the safety of the attack unit.

"Hey Emily, I've got a question."

"What."

"Do you know the term Alpha-Omega"

Upon hearing those words escape Mikey's lips, Emily had halted to a complete stop with her back still facing Mikey who lagged slightly behind.

"Where did you hear this?"

"I see. So, it really was you they've connected me with. I always wondered why I had been so unnaturally intelligent since I've gained full consciousness at two. What confirmed it was the notes my father left behind. Project 4245 'Alpha-Omega'."
