After my seconds of worrying, I sprang into action. It wasn't pretty, but I helped Roman pull on his shorts and then thread his arms through the holes in his t-shirt. I slipped on his socks and shoes, and then my own.
"Can you put any weight on it?" I asked as he tried to stand. As soon as he placed the foot on the ground, I could see it was painful for him. "How much does it hurt?"
"It's pretty bad. So wobbly." "Hold on. Sit down," I told him.
I walked along the path, looking for a large stick. When I found one, I rushed back to Roman with it. Using some vines, I tied the stick tight to Roman's ankle. Seeing my handiwork, I fetched another stick and more vines to create a splint and give Roman stability.
Propping his arm around my shoulder, we started to walk down the path.
"Sorry to ruin our day in paradise," Roman said.
"You got a little too frisky there," I told him. "But you haven't ruined anything. I still had a great time."
