The Gift of Sacrifice
In a small town, there lived a couple who didn't have much money, but their love for each other was deeper than anything in the world. As their wedding anniversary approached, the husband wanted to give his wife a gift she would cherish forever, but he had very little savings.
The wife had beautiful, long, silky hair that she took great pride in. The husband, on the other hand, owned a precious gold pocket watch that had been passed down to him by his grandfather.
On the evening of their anniversary, the husband came home and handed his wife a small, beautifully wrapped box. When she opened it, she found a set of expensive hair combs—the ones she had admired in a shop window for months. However, as she looked at them, the husband realized his wife had cut her long hair very short.
The wife smiled through her tears and handed her husband a package. Inside was a sturdy platinum chain for his pocket watch. She had sold her hair to buy the chain, while the husband had sold his watch to buy the combs for her hair.
