With that, he took Yvonne's hand and left, leaving the audience gazing at each other.
Grace felt as if she had gone for wool and came back shorn.
On the way home, Yvonne said apologetically, "Sorry for the trouble today, James."
"Come on, Yvonne. We're husband and wife, remember?" James said.
Still, she couldn't help feeling guilty, knowing he must have been affected by her family scandals that were so appalling and that would never happen in his own family.
"Thanks again, anyway," she said.
He frowned, "I'm just doing what a husband is supposed to do; there is no need for thanks."
The two got in the car.
