Chapter 22 - Episode 22: When the Past Walks In

The door closed behind Kabir Rajvansh.

And the house fell into a silence so heavy, it felt like the world itself was holding its breath.

Meera Verma stood still.

Waiting.

Listening.

Outside, the wind moved through broken trees.

Far away, engines faded.

And then—

Nothing.

For a moment, it almost felt like peace.

But Meera had started learning something about Kabir's world.

Peace was never real.

Only preparation for the next storm.

She slowly walked toward the window.

The forest outside looked normal again.

Too normal.

That was the problem.

Then—

A sound.

Not loud.

Not obvious.

A soft crunch of footsteps.

Inside.

Meera froze.

"…Kabir?" she whispered instinctively.

No answer.

Her heartbeat spiked instantly.

He said stay inside.

But he also said he might not come back.

The floorboard creaked again.

Closer.

Meera stepped back slowly, her breathing uneven.

"Who's there?"

Silence.

Then—

A voice.

Calm.

Familiar.

"You really trust him that much?"

Meera's blood turned cold.

Because she recognized that voice.

Not Kabir.

Not his men.

Someone from before.

A figure stepped out from the shadows near the hallway.

Well-dressed.

Calm posture.

Eyes sharp.

Too calm for someone who shouldn't be here.

Meera whispered,

"…Who are you?"

The man smiled slightly.

"You don't remember me?"

A pause.

"I'm the reason Kabir Rajvansh stopped sleeping peacefully."

Her stomach dropped.

Something in his tone wasn't random.

It was history.

He stepped closer.

"My name is Advik Rana."

Meera's breath stopped completely.

The same name Kabir said.

The betrayal.

The ghost from his past.

"And before you think he'll save you," Advik said softly,

"…he's already too late."

Meera stepped back instantly.

"You're lying…"

Advik tilted his head.

"Am I?"

A pause.

"Ask yourself why he never told you everything about me."

Silence.

That question hit too deeply.

Because Kabir never told her everything.

Not once.

Advik walked slowly around the room.

Like he owned the silence.

Like he had time.

"He built his empire by breaking people," Advik said.

"Me included."

A pause.

"But people like him… always forget one thing."

Meera's voice trembled.

"What thing?"

Advik looked at her directly.

"That broken people don't stay broken forever."

Outside, distant thunder rolled.

Not natural.

Not weather.

Something else approaching.

Advik smiled faintly.

"And now… I'm here to return the favor."

Meera's mind raced.

Kabir was gone.

No signal.

No help.

Only her.

And him.

She whispered,

"What do you want from me?"

Advik's expression darkened slightly.

"Nothing."

A pause.

"Except to watch him lose the only thing he can't replace."

A loud explosion echoed somewhere far outside.

Meera flinched.

Advik didn't.

He just smiled.

"He's coming back into a trap," he said quietly.

"And this time… he won't have a choice."

Meera's heart pounded.

For the first time…

it wasn't just her life at risk.

It was Kabir's downfall already in motion.

And she realized something terrifying.

The past Kabir buried…

had finally walked into the present.

And it wasn't here for forgiveness.

It was here for destruction.

To be continued… 💔
