Chapter 18 - Episode 18: “The Safe House and the Dangerous Heart”

The estate was quiet.

Too quiet.

Like the world had paused just to watch what Rudra Rathore would do next.

Aanya stepped out of the car slowly.

The place was large, hidden behind trees, surrounded by darkness.

No city noise.

No guards visible.

Only silence.

Rudra followed behind her.

"Stay close," he said automatically.

Aanya looked around.

"This place… is yours?"

Rudra nodded.

"One of them."

A pause.

"For situations like this."

Aanya frowned.

"So you always expected enemies like Riya?"

Rudra's jaw tightened slightly.

"I expect everyone to become an enemy eventually."

A pause.

"Except you."

Aanya froze.

Before she could respond, Rudra walked ahead.

"Come inside."

The house was modern.

Minimal.

Cold.

But safe.

Aanya stepped in slowly.

It felt unfamiliar… but calmer than the mansion.

Rudra locked the door behind them.

Click.

Final.

Aanya turned instantly.

"Are we… trapped here?"

Rudra shook his head.

"No."

A pause.

"Protected."

Silence.

Aanya sat on the edge of a sofa.

Her mind still heavy.

Still replaying everything.

Riya.

The mansion.

The war.

Rudra's words.

Rudra stood near the window, watching outside.

Silent.

Thinking.

Aanya finally spoke softly.

"Do you ever regret this life?"

Rudra didn't turn.

"No."

A pause.

"I regret what it takes from others."

Aanya looked down.

"Like me?"

That made him turn.

Slowly.

His eyes softened slightly.

"No."

A pause.

"You were never taken."

Silence hit the room.

Aanya whispered,

"Then what am I?"

Rudra stepped closer.

Not aggressive.

Not cold.

Just honest.

"You are the first thing I didn't plan."

A pause.

"And the first thing I couldn't control."

Aanya's heart tightened.

Outside, thunder rolled faintly in the distance.

Like the world reminding them—this peace was temporary.

Aanya stood up.

"You say I'm important… but Riya won't stop."

Rudra's expression darkened slightly.

"She already lost control."

Aanya shook her head.

"You don't understand jealousy."

Rudra stepped closer.

"I understand obsession."

A pause.

"Because I'm living it."

Silence shattered instantly.

Aanya stepped back.

"What are you saying?"

Rudra stopped.

For a moment… even he seemed surprised by his own honesty.

Then quietly—

"I am not the same man I was before you."

Aanya's breath caught.

Rudra continued,

"And I don't know if that makes me stronger…"

A pause.

"Or more dangerous."

Aanya whispered,

"It scares me."

Rudra nodded slowly.

"I know."

A long silence followed.

Not uncomfortable.

Just real.

Then Rudra spoke again.

"You don't have to trust me fully."

A pause.

"But you need to stay with me."

Aanya looked at him.

"Until when?"

Rudra's answer was simple.

But heavy.

"Until I end everything that threatens you."

Outside…

somewhere far away…

Riya Verma stared at maps, connections, and broken alliances.

Her eyes were no longer emotional.

Only focused.

"This is not over," she whispered.

Because now she understood something important.

Aanya wasn't just Rudra's weakness.

She was becoming his reason to destroy everything else.
