Chapter 29 - Failed Negotiation

[You have spent your 16 Free Stat Points to Agility Points.

All your active skills' casting time has an 8% reduction.]

It was not only the effects of adding agility points that deduct his active skills' total casting time.

There were more other effects that ended up with his arcane bolt that needed 2.5 seconds casting time to be reduced to 1.9 seconds.

It was a significant change, especially for Jaden and Julian, who believed that a standard offensive spell would require 2.5 seconds to be cast.

As soon as Max casted the Arcane Bolt and swiftly aimed at the head of the alchemist, who was engaged in a fight with the swordsman and Jaden, Julian roared at the archer.

"STOP HIM!"

The archer swiftly nocked his arrow, aimed at Max, and pulled the string at Max.

However, Max, who had already anticipated the archer's actions, casted a Mana Shield while his Arcane Bolt was about to finish casting.

Julian drew a cold breath.

DUAL CASTING?!

Even in his mind, he couldn't help but shout.

However, the shock had not faded yet when he was completely taken aback when the arcane bolt fired towards the alchemist.

And higher casting speeds effects?

T-This guy…

So, he was really the First Mage?!

It was already 99.9 percent confirmed that the First Mage was Max, but now, after showing his abilities, the remaining .1 percent doubt has faded.

Max was a hundred percent the First Mage.

Julian wanted to swiftly turn his head around to find out if Max had stolen the kill, but he was distracted from the arrow, failing to pierce through Max's mana shield.

He was utterly surprised. When he gained the Fire Mage Class, it was simply because he didn't have a choice after Jaden revealed the quest to him in a haste.

In other words, he only gained a single spell—the Fire Bolt.

Currently, he was already out of mana points. He couldn't also attack Max, who could cast faster because his agility points were obviously higher than them.

Simply put, he could swiftly aim his staff towards them even if they tried to evade while Max was casting and still accurately land an attack.

Not to mention, the arcane bolt as their death sentence.

With pretty much all of the party combined being exhausted after fighting against the berserk alchemist, they couldn't put up a fight against Max alone.

With his dual casting talent, they would instantly die.

Julian wanted to prevent that from happening at all cost, as he turned around and had really confirmed that the alchemist died.

Jaden and the swordsman were staring at Max, while the latter ran towards the spare bell tower.

Once he arrived in front of it, he summoned a scroll, which Jaden told him about.

Max attempted to complete the fourth stage in front of them, as though he didn't care in the first place.

Since Max didn't invite them to his party, clearing the fourth stage would only reward him alone.

Julian didn't want to waste the risk he spent on coming here, only to return empty-handed.

He was about to say something, when Jaden attacked Max with an Arcane Bolt.

However, Max didn't even turn his head around and casually casted a Mana Shield behind his back while Jaden was casting the Arcane Bolt.

The Mana Shield even waited for a whole second for the Arcane Bolt to be fired towards it.

The Arcane Bolt has 50 attack power while the Mana Shield has 40 durability. Even then, by constantly pouring mana towards the Mana Shield as soon as it was damaged, it was able to strongly hold on.

Jaden was speechless. Max didn't even bother glancing at him while attacking him.

He gritted his teeth and clenched the wooden staff tightly.

He had already run out of mana points. That was his last arcane bolt.

He knew, at this moment, it was already pointless.

The swordsman was already worn out, and so were the party members. Furthermore, Max easily defended his arcane bolt with his mana shield, much less than an arrow, and he wouldn't even be surprised if Max could annihilate them with an arcane bolt.

Julian's voice suddenly echoed while Max was activating the scroll.

"We acknowledge you are strong, but you should know your limits. You're just an ordinary person in the real world, aren't you?

We can help you, we'll give everything you need.

Don't be too arrogant. Your position as a leading player won't stay long.

And now, you're also offending me. If you don't know, my elder brother is the First Swordsman.

It will only be a matter of time before he surpasses you.

However, if you include us in your party and help you clear this quest together, I'll forget about this grudge.

The Lewis Family will even help you in the real world.

Decide wisely, the First Mage."

Max noticed that the scroll would take at least half a minute to complete, so he didn't mind chatting with Julian first.

After trying to simmer down his boiling anger, he said, "The Lewis Family, really interesting. They have set their eyes on the gaming industry after their sons fell in love with it, huh?"

Julian was surprised.

He replied, "So, you know about us. I hope you consider your—"

"But." Max interrupted him. "No one knows about Apocalypse Online, really. I believe this game surpasses the real world in terms of importance."

There were five seconds left before the scroll finally activated, as the light it was now illuminating began to envelop the piece of paper inscribed with blood runes.

When there were three seconds left, he said, "And you're talking about your big brother being the First Swordsman, acquiring a global achievement."

He turned around and smirked.

"However, who was the first player to earn a global achievement before him?"

The scroll finally activated and the piece of paper disintegrated into pieces of dust.

Suddenly, a demon manifested from it, levitating behind Max, opening its mouth and let out a thunderous roar.

The roar was accompanied by demonic mana that instilled fear towards every player, except Max.

Before the roar could reach its peak, an arcane bolt pierced through the head of the demon.

The headless demon's body began to disintegrate into pieces before fading into nothingness.

However, there was a material that dropped from the demon as it landed on Max's hand after swiftly catching without glancing at it.

Max beamed a smile at Julian and said, "I got the first position for a reason and my achievements will prove it again and again.

Until you have to accept that I am inevitable."
