Chapter 2 - chapter 2

Alex swirled the last drop of wine in his glass, staring at the crimson liquid as if it were a mirror to his life. The hall was quiet; the servants had long since left, leaving only the faint scent of burnt candles and polished stone. He lifted the glass, and for a moment, the world felt still.

Then the wine slipped.

It tumbled from his hand, shattering against the marble floor. But Alex didn't flinch. A pain unlike any he had ever known coursed through him, deep in his chest. His body felt as though it were being torn apart, reshaped, redefined. His vision blurred, and the air around him seemed to shimmer with a strange, oppressive energy.

Something was entering him — something alien, yet familiar.

Pablo.

A voice, or perhaps a memory, clawed its way into Alex's consciousness. A man who had never bent to the world, who had walked through fire and scorn, who had lived and died loving the villains of stories… whose hatred for heroes had burned hotter than any flame. That soul, desperate, cunning, and unbroken, merged with Alex's.

Pain seared him. His bones shifted. His skin felt tight, then loose, then tight again as if it were being reforged. Hair darkened; veins pulsed with a strange luminescence. His heartbeat accelerated unnaturally, synching with an energy that was not entirely his own.

And then it came: a presence.

"Finally awake, your Majesty," a voice drawled in his mind, sarcastic and sharp, almost teenage in tone. "Took you long enough. You look… evolved."

Alex opened his eyes. Nyx. The system. Not just a voice, but a living, mocking presence.

"Evolved?" he muttered, teeth gritting.

"Yes, sure, call it whatever makes you feel smart," Nyx replied. "Evolution, transformation, fabulousness… pick one. You're not dead yet, so clearly something worked."

Alex ignored her. The fusion had awakened something deeper — not just his vampire potential, but the latent powers from his previous life, from the soul of Pablo, and from the story memories he had absorbed.

A panel appeared in his mind, glowing with symbols and numbers:

Alex flexed his fingers. Everything felt sharper, more fluid. Every muscle, every neuron was synchronized with the new energy coursing through him. The memories of Pablo's life — hunted, scorned, manipulated, betrayed — now layered over his own. He understood the cruelty of the world in a way he never had before.

Nyx's voice broke his thoughts.

"Oh, look at you. Already glowing like a Christmas tree. Don't get too cocky, newbie. You still have like… 99.7% of your potential to unlock, and your lust is dangerously close to full tilt. I swear, if you bite a man, I'm never letting you hear the end of it."

Alex's lips twitched. Lust, desire, and hunger — amplified beyond reason — clawed at him. But he forced a calm breath, letting Nyx monitor the instability.

"Focus on the target first," she continued, teasing. "One heroine at a time, genius. You need servants, allies, someone to—ugh, you know, survive the apocalypse you're about to start."

His mind sharpened. He already had a plan. Servants would be created. Heroines would be observed, tested, and if worthy, elevated to generals under him. Every move would be deliberate. Every step calculated.

The world had hated Alex. It had mocked him, despised him, and exiled him.

Now… it would learn why the progenitor never bowed.

And somewhere deep in the fusion of souls, Pablo's voice whispered encouragement:

"Show them why villains survive."
