Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Depth of the Past

Night had fallen again.

But this time, it wasn't as silent as before. Soft light was coming through the hospital windows, footsteps echoed in the corridors, and there was a distant, unfamiliar busyness.

Arian was sitting in a room.

In front of him lay an old file—records of injured and missing people from the flood accident. He was turning the pages one by one.

Every name, every detail—he was reading carefully.

But he was searching for only one name—Neela.

Suddenly—

He stopped at a page.

A name, written beside a handwritten note.

Neela.

Arian's breath froze.

He quickly read it.

Next to the name it said—

"Rescued unconscious, later missing."

His hands began to shake.

"This… it's real…"

he whispered.

But what shook him even more was another small note below—

"Previously went missing at the same place once, never fully found again."

Arian felt dizzy.

"The same place… missing again?"

He shut the file hard.

Questions started flooding his mind.

Who is Neela?

Is she just a normal person…

or is she connected to something beyond time itself?

The next morning, Arian took the file to a nurse.

"Can I know more about this girl named Neela?"

he asked.

The nurse looked at the file and thought for a moment.

"We've heard this name before,"

she said.

Arian immediately leaned forward.

"Before?"

The nurse spoke slowly,

"A few years ago, there was another accident near this same river. Back then too, a girl went missing… the name was almost the same."

A cold wave ran through Arian.

"What happened then?"

he asked.

The nurse shook her head.

"No one could say for sure. But one thing was said—the person who was searching for her claimed… the girl suddenly 'disappeared' from his life."

Arian went silent.

"Disappeared…"

The word echoed in his mind.

That afternoon, Arian returned to the riverside.

The place where everything had begun.

He slowly stood at the exact spot where Neela had first appeared before him.

The wind was blowing.

The water was calm.

But inside him, there was restlessness.

"Are you here?"

he whispered.

Suddenly—

He heard that voice again.

"You're late."

Arian turned.

No one was there.

But this time, he wasn't afraid.

He closed his eyes.

"I know you're here,"

he said,

"You're within me, around me… somewhere."

The air trembled softly.

He felt something in front of him—

as if someone was standing very close.

He opened his eyes.

And this time—

He saw her.

Neela.

Standing by the river.

But she wasn't fully real—she was like a transparent presence, something between light and shadow.

"You're real…"

Arian whispered.

Neela smiled softly.

"I never completely left."

Arian tried to step closer, but stopped.

"Then… what are you?"

he asked.

Neela stayed silent for a moment.

Then she said slowly,

"I am a story that was never finished."

The air grew heavy.

"And you?"

she asked,

"Are you ready to know the truth?"

Arian didn't hesitate.

"Yes."

Neela looked at him.

Now, her eyes held not just sadness—but a deep mystery.

"Then listen,"

she said,

"I am not just a person. I am a memory that time could not forget."

Arian's heart pounded.

"It started long ago… when this river and this ship were not just a story, but something that changed people's fate."

Her voice began to fade.

"And the day you saw me… was just another chapter of that story."

Her presence became even more faint.

"I exist… when someone truly remembers me."

Arian reached out his hand.

But he touched only emptiness.

"You won't disappear…"

he said.

Neela's voice echoed one last time—

"Not if you don't forget me…"

And then—

Silence.

Arian stood alone by the river.

But now he knew—

This is not just love.

This is a love that lives within memory.

And that love… is not over yet.
