Chapter 12 - Ambush at the Airport

The private jet provided by Chief Okoro touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Austin stepped out onto the tarmac, feeling the salty Atlantic breeze. In his briefcase was the prototype for his malaria-cure "Genesis Tablet" and the signed federal licenses from Dr. Adama.

He was here to meet a group of investors from the United States and Germany who were ready to put $10,000,000 into his global distribution.

"Welcome to Lagos, sir," a driver in a dark suit said, reaching for Austin's bag.

Austin's Eyes of Truth flickered.

[WARNING: DANGER DETECTED.]

[TARGET: DRIVER - HEART RATE 140 BPM (NERVOUS).]

[OBJECT: CONCEALED WEAPON UNDER THE SEAT.]

Austin pulled his bag back. "I'll hold onto it. And I think we'll take a different car."

The driver's face turned cold. "I'm afraid that's not an option, Mr. Austin. There are people who want to discuss your 'Genesis Tablet' in private. People much bigger than a village doctor from Anambra."

Before Austin could turn around, two more black SUVs screech to a halt behind him. Six men jumped out, and the air around them felt heavy—the same "Shadow Energy" he had felt from Dr. Vane.

[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION: SURVIVAL MISSION ACTIVATED!]

[OBJECTIVE: DEFEAT THE KIDNAPPERS.]

[REWARD: 1,500 EXP, NEW SKILL: 'PHYSICAL FORTIFICATION'.]

"You aren't taking me anywhere," Austin said, his voice dropping an octave. He reached into his pocket and crushed a small "Energy Pill" he had prepared in the Divine Archive.

As the first man lunged at him, Austin didn't dodge. He moved with a speed he didn't know he had. He tapped three pressure points on the man's arm.

[SKILL: NERVE PARALYSIS!]

The man screamed as his arm went limp instantly. Austin moved like a blur between the attackers. To the crowd watching from a distance, it looked like a choreographed dance. Every time Austin touched a man, they fell to the ground, unable to move a single muscle.

The driver pulled a pistol, but Austin was faster. He threw a single Golden Needle. It didn't pierce the man; it struck the metal of the gun with such force that the weapon flew out of the driver's hand.

"Go back to whoever sent you," Austin stood over the leader, his eyes glowing with an eerie gold light. "Tell them that Austin is not a piece of fruit they can just pluck. If they want my medicine, they can come to my office and buy it like everyone else."

The attackers scrambled back into their cars and roared away, leaving the airport security stunned.

[MISSION COMPLETE!]

[REWARD: 1,500 EXP!]

[LEVEL UP: LEVEL 5 REACHED!]

[NEW SYSTEM FEATURE: WORLD MAP (Allows tracking of enemies and allies).]

Austin straightened his suit. He knew this wasn't just a random kidnapping. This was "Big Pharma" sending a message. They didn't want a cure; they wanted to protect their profits.

He looked at his phone. The American investors were waiting at the Eko Hotel. "Let's see if they have more courage than their hired thugs," he muttered.
