Riley's POV
The surge of adrenaline coursing through my veins has pushed me to the breaking point more times than I can count. I've shouted at Theo and Freya countless times, demanding they abandon me to handle this nightmare alone. Yet they stubbornly refuse to budge, and it's not like I have the strength to flee in my current state. Besides, once these babies arrive, how could I possibly manage caring for two newborns while constantly looking over my shoulder? Apart from the friends I left behind, Theo and Freya are the only souls on earth I'd trust with my children's lives.
My gaze drifts to Theo, already lost in sleep and snoring softly, when Freya enters the room. Terror flashes across her features, and as if the universe heard her silent alarm, a vicious pain tears through my abdomen. I desperately reach for something to anchor myself, unfortunately landing on Theo's unsuspecting shoulder.
