Caleb's POV
I knock twice before pushing open her bedroom door, but Vanessa was right. Riley's not here. Damn it. Where the hell could she be? My pulse hammers against my throat as I take the stairs two at a time back down to the living room. Mason looks up hopefully when I appear, but I shake my head. The disappointment that crosses his face mirrors what I'm feeling inside.
Vanessa's mom notices our silent exchange immediately. Her maternal instincts kick in as she sets down the dish towel she was holding. "What's going on? Where's Riley?"
I glance between Jace and Mason, neither of them wanting to be the bearer of bad news any more than I do. The weight of the situation settles heavily in the room. "We can't find her anywhere," I finally manage to say.
Vanessa's mom's eyes widen with concern. "What do you mean you can't find her?"
