Riley's POV
I step outside with everyone, wrapping each friend in a tight embrace as we say our goodbyes. The words feel hollow when I tell them I'll see them in the morning, especially when my gaze drifts toward Caleb's house across the street. A knot forms in my stomach as uncertainty clouds my thoughts about whether I'll actually see them all again. I force a smile, trying to mask the growing sadness, but I know I'm not fooling anyone.
Mason breaks away from our group and heads toward Caleb's front door while the others disperse to their respective homes. I remain planted on my doorstep, watching their silhouettes disappear into the darkness. An uncomfortable sensation creeps up my spine, as if unseen eyes are tracking my every movement. The feeling sends a chill through me, and I quickly retreat inside.
