Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 — The First True Boss Wave

The city streets were almost unrecognizable. Smoke still rose from shattered buildings, and the stench of burnt debris hung in the air. Adrian's group moved cautiously, every step calculated. His dagger was ready, eyes scanning for any sign of movement.

Behind him, Mira's fire flickered softly, Leo gripped his plank tightly, and Tobias stayed low, constantly alert. They had survived smaller waves, but the next one would push them to their limits.

The black gates above shimmered violently. From them, three massive figures dropped. These were no ordinary monsters—they were enormous, each different in shape and attack style. One towered like a living wall, covered in jagged armor and spiked limbs. Another moved unnaturally fast, with multiple limbs striking unpredictably. The third was smaller but cunning, striking with precise and vicious blows, darting between attacks.

Adrian stopped. "This is it. Your real test. Follow my orders perfectly. Hesitate, and you die."

Mira swallowed. "They're… huge."

"You'll adapt," Adrian said calmly. "Or you'll die trying."

The three monsters charged at once. Adrian moved first, dodging the tower's crushing claw and striking its exposed joint. Sparks flew as the armor cracked slightly.

Mira launched a concentrated burst of flames at the multi-limbed creature, forcing it to retreat momentarily. Leo swung his plank at the tower, distracting it just enough to create an opening. Tobias jabbed repeatedly at the small, agile creature, narrowly landing a few strikes.

Adrian activated his System Analysis skill. Patterns appeared in his vision: weak points on the hulking monster, timing for the multi-limbed creature, and attack sequences of the smaller one. He read the battlefield like a map.

Step by step, Adrian led the group. "Mira, flank left and strike the exposed side. Leo, hold the tower's front. Tobias, attack the smaller one's flank when I signal."

The group obeyed. Clumsy, but coordinated. Adrian struck the hulking monster's weak point repeatedly, forcing it to stagger. Mira's flames burned hotter than ever, Leo distracted the tower with precise strikes, and Tobias finally landed a critical blow on the smaller creature.

Adrian signaled with a hand gesture, boosting them further with Tactical Command. They moved as one unit now, each attack synchronized perfectly.

The battle raged. The hulking tower staggered, the multi-limbed creature lunged and struck unpredictably, and the smaller monster darted in and out, attempting to hit Tobias again. Tobias froze for a split second, and the creature's claw swiped dangerously close.

Adrian didn't hesitate. He leapt between the hulking tower and the smaller creature, dagger striking both weak points in rapid succession. The smaller monster screeched and slashed wildly, but Adrian blocked its attack, forcing it back. Tobias recovered and jabbed at the creature again, finally defeating it.

The multi-limbed creature tried a coordinated attack with the tower, but Adrian anticipated it. He dodged, struck its weak point, and caused it to stagger. Mira's flames hit the exposed gaps, and Leo's strikes followed perfectly.

Finally, after an exhausting series of strikes, the hulking tower and multi-limbed creature collapsed in black fragments. Smoke and dust hung heavy in the air.

The group was battered. Mira's arms were scorched, Leo's plank had cracks, and Tobias was shaking but alive. Adrian stood silently, surveying the battlefield.

The black gates shimmered in the distance. More would come. He knew it.

The system notified him:

[LEVEL UP — ADRIAN VANCE: 7 → 8]

[NEW SKILL UNLOCKED — ADVANCED TACTICAL COMMAND: Increases allies' damage and efficiency based on real-time analysis]

Adrian ignored the glowing panel. Survival came first. He turned to the group.

"This isn't over," he said. "Every gate is a threat. Every monster will try to kill you. Adapt, or die."

Mira looked at him with awe. "You're… different."

Adrian didn't answer. Survival and strategy were all that mattered. The city was far from safe. The gates pulsed ominously. And Adrian knew the system had far deadlier challenges in store.

"…We're only getting started," he muttered.
