Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 — Extreme-Tier Boss

The air was thick with smoke and the metallic scent of blood. Adrian's group moved cautiously through the shattered streets, every footstep measured. His dagger gleamed faintly in the dim light, eyes scanning for movement. Mira's flames flickered nervously, Leo gripped his cracked plank tightly, and Tobias's hands shook as he prepared for anything.

Above, a black gate pulsed violently. The system flashed a warning in Adrian's vision:

[EXTREME-TIER BOSS DETECTED]

[RECOMMENDED STRATEGY: HIGHLY CAUTIOUS, FULL TACTICAL ENGAGEMENT REQUIRED]

The gate split open, and a massive figure descended. It towered above the buildings, armored in jagged black plating with glowing red veins snaking across its body. Its eyes burned like molten metal, and its claws could crush concrete. This was unlike anything they had ever faced.

Adrian paused, analyzing its stance and movement. System Analysis highlighted multiple weak points along the joints, neck, and torso—but attacking any of them would require precise timing. One wrong move, and someone would die.

"This is it," Adrian said. "Follow my commands perfectly. One mistake, and we don't survive."

Mira swallowed. "This… this thing isn't human. How do we even fight it?"

Adrian didn't answer. Words didn't matter. Action did.

The boss lunged. Its claws slammed into the ground, sending debris flying. Leo barely blocked with his plank, staggering backward. Tobias ducked, but the force of the shockwave almost knocked him off his feet. Mira's flames flared, striking at the creature's side—but it barely reacted.

Adrian moved first. He leapt toward the nearest joint, striking with Precision Strike. Sparks erupted as the dagger embedded slightly, but the boss barely flinched.

"Focus!" Adrian shouted. "Mira, target the gaps. Leo, distract the arms. Tobias, flank left. Move together!"

The group obeyed, moving with a synchronization Adrian had trained them for. Mira's flames burned hotter, Leo's strikes hit precisely, and Tobias jabbed at openings Adrian indicated.

But the boss adapted instantly. Its movements were faster, more intelligent. One swipe of its claw caught Tobias off guard, sending him flying into a building. Dust and debris fell over him.

Adrian's heart raced—but he didn't hesitate. He dove toward the boss, striking at another weak point to stagger it, then used Tactical Dominance to boost the group's efficiency.

Mira and Leo moved with perfect timing. Mira's flames struck one gap while Leo distracted another. Tobias, battered and bleeding, scrambled back into position, following Adrian's hand signals.

The battle raged for what felt like hours. The boss's attacks were relentless, forcing the group to dodge, strike, and retreat continuously. Adrian calculated every move, predicting patterns with Commander's Intuition, exploiting every minor weakness.

Finally, after a precise sequence of strikes, flames, and jabs, the boss staggered. Its glowing eyes flickered, and cracks appeared in its armor. Adrian moved in, dagger ready. He struck the final weak point with Precision Strike, and the massive creature collapsed in a shower of black fragments, smoke, and molten residue.

The group was battered, bloodied, and barely standing. Tobias had a deep gash along his side, Mira's arms were scorched, and Leo's plank was broken in several places.

Adrian stood silently, surveying the battlefield. The system flashed a notification:

[LEVEL UP — ADRIAN VANCE: 11 → 12]

[NEW SKILL UNLOCKED — BATTLEFIELD COMMANDER: Temporarily maximizes team efficiency, attack speed, and critical chance based on enemy prediction]

Adrian ignored it. Survival came first.

He turned to his group. "Rest. Heal. Every gate is a threat. Every next wave is worse. Adapt, or die."

Mira, Leo, and Tobias nodded silently. Trust in Adrian had reached its peak.

The city remained under the looming shadow of the black gates. Adrian's eyes scanned the horizon. More extreme-tier threats were coming, and the system was preparing challenges far deadlier than any they had faced so far.

"…This is just the beginning," he muttered.

The system observed silently, calculating how far it could push Adrian's team before they broke completely.
