Chapter 11 - Chapter 9: The Ice Princess Speaks

The Icy Stare

Sonia stood motionless, her furious gaze sweeping over the assembled crowd. Nisha timidly approached her, but before she could speak, Kavya rushed forward, her face twisted in a desperate plea.

"Where were you?" Kavya wailed. "You sent me here, and now, because of you, Abhay Sir is shouting at me and firing me!"

Sonia did not utter a word. She simply held Kavya in a glaring, unwavering stare that seemed to freeze the very air around them. Kavya, mid-sentence, saw the dead coldness in Sonia's eyes. She gulped, stopped talking instantly, and involuntarily took a stumbling step backward. Sonia's silence was more terrifying than any shouting.

Ishani quickly moved beside Sonia and whispered, "Sonia, please calm down."

Nisha approached, visibly scared. "Madam, you came."

Sonia finally broke her silence, her voice clear and chillingly firm. "Yes, I came here for you, Nisha. You are my responsibility because you work sincerely."

The Interrogation

Sonia then turned her intense focus onto Kavya and Kavya's cowering secretary, Preeti.

"If Abhay Sir invited me," Sonia asked, her tone devoid of emotion, "why did you take my invitation card?"

The directness of the question, which exposed the core issue instantly, surprised everyone in the gathering except Ishani.

"Can you speak something, Ms. Kavya?" Sonia prompted, her gaze daring Kavya to lie.

Kavya tried to form words, but the sheer terror in Sonia's eyes rendered her speechless.

Sonia then shifted her attention. She looked past Kavya and fixed her gaze on Abhay, who was staring at her without blinking, his mind reeling from the shock of her stunning transformation. Abhay was lost in the sight of his wife, barely conscious of the surrounding drama.

"I am sorry, sir," Sonia stated, addressing him formally. "I was not aware that you invited me."

Abhay remained silent, frozen in shock. Rajat, his secretary, had to nudge him. "Sir, Madam is speaking with you!"

Abhay blinked, collecting himself. He looked at Sonia, then pointed at her with his eyes, saying, "Madam, say something."

Sonia calmly repeated her apology. "Sir, I am sorry I was not aware that you invited me." She continued, her voice hardening with professional detachment: "Sir, since neither I nor my secretary were aware of your invitation, we will not take any responsibility for this scene. You can deal with them."

This bold, cold assertion stunned the family.

Abhay, impressed by her control and sharpness, accepted the challenge. "I understand, but since you are here now, you can accept the invitation request."

Sonia maintained her professional distance. "Sir, I am not in the professional dress code, and also, I am on leave. Can you reschedule the meeting? Now, can I leave with my secretary?"

The Aftermath

Kavya, hearing Sonia's refusal, sputtered with indignation. "What are you saying? You are just saying I am the one who took your invitation card!"

Sonia offered a slow, sarcastic smile. "Oh, really? Okay, so you accept responsibility." She turned back to Abhay. "See, Sir? She accepts it. You can deal with them now."

Abhay's eyes narrowed as he looked at Kavya and the other implicated employees. He motioned to Rajat. "Deal with them and remove them from the company."

Sonia watched the subsequent chaos calmly. Kavya and the employees were swiftly escorted away by security, their desperate pleas ignored.

With the workplace drama concluded, Sonia, Ishani, and Nisha stood alone.

Suddenly, Sonia's brother, Arjun, rushed forward. Before Sonia could react, he enveloped her in a tight, emotional hug, followed by Avinash. Sonia remained stiff and unmoving in her brothers' embrace.
