Lukas exhaled slowly, one hand still resting on the wheel.
Fighting here was not an option. He could count eight Adepts, all B-rank or higher, on an open road with his car boxed in from four directions.
He could probably [Void Step] out. Probably. And then he'd be running around in an unfamiliar district being hunted by people who'd already proven they could find him.
"Fine," he said. "Lead the way. I'll follow you."
The man's polite smile didn't waver.
"I'm afraid that won't do, Sir Lukas. You'll have to come with us."
Lukas' hand tightened on the wheel.
The man noticed his hesitation and spoke before Lukas could voice it.
"Your vehicle will be brought along, of course," he said. "One of our people will drive it. It will be waiting for you when your conversation concludes, in the same condition it is now." He inclined his head. "We're not thieves."
There was nothing to gain by drawing this out.
