The drive took forty minutes after which I pushed the car to a hundred and twenty on the highway and Aria was on the phone the whole time, coordinating, calling in every favor we had left.
I could hear Marcus on my own phone through the speaker, his voice tight and controlled in the way it got when things were genuinely bad.
"Two hundred wolves, Alpha. They crossed the north perimeter eight minutes ago. We've slowed them with the outer defense line but it won't hold for more than twenty minutes."
"Pull everyone back to the main building," I said. "Don't waste wolves on ground you can't keep. Concentrate at the center."
"That leaves the eastern outbuildings exposed."
"The outbuildings are things. My wolves are not things." I took a corner too fast and the tires complained about it. "Main building. Everyone."
Aria ended her call. "I got sixty wolves from the Harker Pack moving toward your northern border. Forty from Westfield coming in from the east."
