The sky roared again that night, rain crashing down like it wanted to tear the world apart.
Asli sat by the window, watching the storm with restless eyes. It reminded her too much of her life now—chaotic, unpredictable, and suffocating.
A loud thunderclap shook the room.
Without thinking, she flinched.
Moments later, the door opened.
Ferhat stepped in.
"You should stay away from the windows during storms," he said.
She frowned. "Why? Afraid lightning will strike me?"
"No," he replied calmly. "Afraid someone might."
The words sent a chill through her.
"You're exaggerating."
"I don't exaggerate."
Silence followed.
Then another crash of thunder.
This time, closer.
Asli's breath hitched.
Ferhat noticed.
"You're scared."
"I'm not," she said quickly.
Another thunderclap proved her wrong.
Without a word, he walked over and closed the curtains.
The room dimmed.
Quieter.
Safer.
"You don't have to pretend," he said.
