Asli frowned. "Excuse me?"
"It's not safe."
"That's not your decision!"

Her anger returned instantly. "You don't get to control every part of my life!"
"I control what keeps you alive."
"I don't want to live like this!"
His voice dropped.
"You don't understand what's out there."
"Then explain it to me!"
Silence.
Then—
"No."
Asli stepped closer, her voice shaking with emotion.
"You don't trust me."
His eyes darkened slightly.
"I don't trust anyone."
"That's your problem!"
"And staying alive is yours."
The tension between them tightened.
