Chapter 1 - THE WEAKEST HUNTER

Revenge of a Weak Hunter

Chapter 1: The Weakest Hunter

The city never truly slept.

Even at midnight, neon lights flickered across the streets while hunters moved through the shadows like soldiers preparing for war.

Above the skyline, the sky tore open.

A Gate appeared.

People screamed and ran while alarms echoed through the district.

But inside the Hunter Association building, no one was screaming.

They were laughing.

"Haha! Look who came back alive."

Several hunters sat around the table drinking coffee after a mission. One of them pointed toward the door.

Standing there quietly was Hussain Khan.

His uniform was torn. His face had scratches. Dust clung to his boots.

Yet his expression remained calm.

Another hunter smirked.

"The legendary F-Rank survivor."

"More like the weakest hunter in the world."

Laughter filled the room again.

Hussain didn't respond.

He had heard these words hundreds of times already.

Weak.

Useless.

Dead weight.

The truth was simple.

In a world where hunters awakened powerful abilities, Hussain had almost none.

His strength barely exceeded that of a normal human.

His mana capacity was so small that most monsters ignored him.

Yet somehow… he was still alive.

And that confused everyone.

One hunter leaned back in his chair.

"Why do you even keep doing this job? You're just waiting to die."

Hussain walked past them without looking up.

"Because someone has to."

The room went silent for a moment.

But the laughter soon returned.

He left the building and stepped outside into the cold night air.

The city lights stretched endlessly before him.

For a moment, Hussain allowed himself to breathe.

Then he heard a cheerful voice.

"Big brother!"

He turned around.

Running toward him was his younger sister Amina.

Her long hair bounced as she rushed over.

"You finished another mission!"

She looked proud.

Hussain smiled faintly.

"Just a small one."

She frowned.

"You should quit being a hunter."

"You always come back injured."

Before he could answer, another voice spoke from behind them.

"Your sister is right."

Their mother approached slowly, carrying a bag of groceries.

Even his father stood beside her with crossed arms.

His family had always worried about him.

Hussain scratched the back of his head.

"If I quit, who will protect the city?"

His father chuckled.

"There are thousands of stronger hunters than you."

"Exactly," Amina said. "You don't need to risk your life."

Hussain looked at them quietly.

If only they knew.

He never became a hunter because he was strong.

He became one because he was afraid.

Afraid that one day monsters would appear…

And he would be too weak to protect the people he loved.

So he chose the dangerous path anyway.

Just then something strange happened.

A cold sensation spread through Hussain's body.

The world suddenly felt… quiet.

Too quiet.

Then a voice echoed inside his mind.

A voice that did not belong to him.

"Interesting."

Hussain froze.

"A weak vessel… but a stubborn soul."

His heart started beating faster.

"W-who…?"

His sister looked confused.

"Brother?"

But the voice continued.

"You will do nicely."

Pain exploded inside Hussain's head.

He dropped to one knee.

His vision blurred.

The last thing he saw before everything went dark…

Was the sky above the city cracking open again.

Another Gate.

But this one was enormous.

And somewhere beyond the clouds…

Something ancient had just chosen him.
