A Wife for Hire: The Trillionaire's contract Wife
(Hospital)
Chapter Six
Aaron Buckley marched into his company building, and met his secretary sitting on her desk wearing the sharpest shade of red and silver polish. Her lashes batted seductively in his direction and the moment he got near she pretended to get off her seat but postured in a manner her cleavages popped breaking a button on her white shirt. Her like firmed an O.
"Good morning sir welcome we didn't know you'll be visiting the office today."
"Morning Rosie. I need the company files immediately." He returned marching to his office not sparing her a second look. Aaron Buckley knew being the richest, and eligible for a remarriage everyone wanted a piece of him or better still the wealth associated with marrying into the Buckley's family. And being one of the most successful Buckleys of the 21st century didn't help his case. He stepped into the office, dropped the briefcase on the table and attempt to sit when his eyes caught an envelope. He fired lots of female staffs it got to a point he avoided hiring ladies.
The office door creaked open, and it was his secretary holding the company files in her arm while she stared at him like he was candy.
"Who left this letter here?"
"No one."
Aaron picked the white envelope off his table broke the seal, and the letter fell out of the confinement. He crouched to the floor to pick it up, his gaze flicked on the letter heading which made his blood boil.
It's been years, and yet she still wants his blood. She won't stop fighting him till she gets his blood. He was to read further when his phone rang it came from Ella- his most trusted, and oldest working staff.
He picked the call with urgency it was unlike her to call as early as 8:24 as his gaze lands on the wall clock
"Anything the matter?"
"Paige is suffering from an allergy attack, we are at the hospital, and the doctor assured she's doing fine…" he heard her sob at the end of the phone.
"An attack?"
"Yes sir I'm glad I got on time to save her, and the doctor did his best. She's fine now. Piper misses you, she has been asking ever since she's stabilized."
"What caused her attack?! I hate to be in the dark. I demand to know what caused my precious daughter an attack?!" His voice boomed across the room. His fist tightened into a fist.
"Marilyn…she.."
"Speak Ella!" His voice raw and impatient. His eyes covered in rage. His little Piper was suffering. He has failed his daughter. He has failed another soul he loved so much. He left the mansion as early as 5 to meet up with meetings at the other end of town. And made it to his office few minutes ago, hopeful he'll be back before nightfalls to kiss his precious daughters good night. Work was tough but he cherished the moment spent together with the kids. How was he to know how his child would be battling with her life? Anger raged his heart.
"Marilyn is the cause…she did this to Piper…" the number died. He tried it again and got a voicemail. He groaned in pain grabbing his briefcase out of the table heading to the family hospital.
"What is it sir?"
"Cancel the meetings."
"But sir…"
"I said cancel!" He yelled openly. He has never spoken to any of his staff in that manner. Aaron accorded his workers with respect but this time was different, it had to do with the most important soul in his life. He grabbed his keys, and marched out of the building, slotted the keys into the car's ignition. He marched towards the reception.
"Greetings."
"Piper Aaron Buckley."
"Private ward 97."
His steps hastened his chest beating repeatedly his rage blinded him for minutes he drove a storm to the hospital. He pulled the door knob, and walked in sighting a sleeping Piper and a Paige holding a pink doll in her arms seated on the plush couch at the private ward. Ella stood prancing around the room in worry, and when their eyes meet she sighed releasing the pent up exhaustion.
"Daddy!" Paige ran into his arms as he crochet one knee to the floor, arms apart, and hugged her to himself so tight, and kissed her hair.
"Daddy-" she hicupped tears clouding her little eyes.
"Say no more daddy's here." He wiped the tear forming on her tear duct affectionately and kissed her cheeks.
"Welcome sir." Ella spoke .
"How is Piper?"
"She's doing okay. The doctor said she'll be fine but she's asleep now she deserves a lot of rest." Ella narrates her arms locked behind her back. Aaron walked to her little bed, his fingers hesitated but swiftly moved over the mattress and to her hair, softly stroking the strands of hair with a softness that made a tear roll down his cheek. His heart was breaking watching his pride looking almost lifeless and extremely pale.
"And Marilyn?"
"Marilyn poisoned her milkshake. She made the breakfast, and failed to be a great mother. She's unfit. I hate to say it sir but she's not the right mother for the children. Her actions are horrible, fake, and inconsiderate. Her busy body nearly cost an innocent child's life. What if I wasn't there? What could have happened? I'm scared to think about it." Her palm rest stop his shoulder. "Get rid of her she's of no good. Who knows if this wouldn't be the constant occurrences? I fear for the children, Master."
The door opened, and standing at the mouth of the door was Marilyn, and in her arms were baskets of Piper's favorites and a huge blue teddy. Pipers favorite color.
"You're here I…"
Aaron stopped her with his hands. "Excuse us Ella take Paige with you." His tone harsh, hard and stoic.
Marilyn swallowed her hands tightened around the basket and the teddy in her arms. She left few minutes ago to get Piper those gifts and unbeknownst to her Ella took advantage of her absence to call and falsely implicate her.
Ella nodded and Paige obediently followed behind. The door was closed behind them before he turned and faced her. His eyes covered in rage and anger his knuckles itched to slam against the wall something to curb the raging inferno burning inside his chest. How could she do this to him? How wrong was he to cheaply trust her and believe he has met the one.
How stupid.
She was no different from the others. His biggest regret, and it hurts him admitting silently.
"I… don't know where to start but I didn't mean to hurt Piper. That's not me I agree I failed to inquire about her allergies but my heart is pure. I didn't cook to hurt her I wanted the kids to lighten up around me….I can explain.."
"You're fired." He fired openly. "Pack your things, and leave my property!"
The basket fell off her hands, and spilled its content all over the floor.
