 (Truth)

 Chapter Twelve

Paige joined the car minutes later and by the time she arrived Piper changed into her second uniform, a spare uniform she always carried with her.

Her hair became dry, and she looked nothing like the image before. The drive back to the Buckley mansion was intense between Piper, and Marilyn they didn't say a word but their eyes spoke to each other. The questions hanging in the air, the eyes of guilt, and secrecy.

The car drive into the mansion gates. Paige alights first hurrying to their bedroom to watch her favorite kiddies show. Piper tried to move Marilyn grabs her hand to hers.

 "We have to talk."

Immediately Piper snatched her hands away like it burned her from the physical contact. "I don't want to talk." Piper grumbled, annoyed, and scared.

Her lips twitched in fear. Her eyes mirror sadness, the hurtful words hurled at her repeatedly by her classmates and how most of the pupils avoided her after one of the girls spread lies, and many more incidents she learned to take in, and pretend everything was fine. It was her fault. It always was she told herself.

"How long have you suffered their attacks."

"Stop it! It's none of your business mind your business!" Piper screamed and left the car grabbing her school backpack. Marilyn alighted the car to leave but an idea struck her.

She turned to the driver and inclined him to come.

 "Yes ma'am."

"How long have you worked here?" Her question set him panicking.

 "S-S-six…months ma'am." He stuttered.

"Good I can get you fired right away." She clicked her finger.

"Please ma'am I don't want to lose my job." He begged.

"Tell me what have been the most weird picking the kids up and back."

"The other twin she changes her uniform everyday, and sometimes limps back to the car. On some occasions there's signs of her grazing her knees. It's not my position to interfere in this things I'm an ordinary driver please ma'am don't fire me."

Marilyn walked off she has gotten what she wanted. His confession was recorded and it was going to be useful in making an example out of kids who bully kids.

Piper pretended like nothing happened for the rest of the day she ate her food in silence and when Aaron came back home from work she sealed her lips shut and listened as he read her a bedtime story and pretended to sleep.

Aaron kissed her cheek, and slowly left the room turning the lights out.

 "I know you aren't sleeping."

"What is that you want?" Piper groaned.

"Mind your tone Piper. I'm trying to help try to hear me out." Marilyn used in her most soft and calming voice. She understood Piper's feelings correctly. Marilyn knew how long it took her to get over her bullies reason she'd fight tooth and nail to make sure it never repeats again.

"I don't wish to discuss anything further I have school tomorrow." Piper turned her back feigning to sleep.

"To get bullied, and attacked everyday?" Marilyn clicked the recorded conversation earlier, and the drivers confession played out. Paige stared at her sister tears clouding her tear duct.

"Who is doing this?" Paige voice cracked, tears threatening to fall.

"It's not true." Piper tried to touch her but she shifted backward in haste.

"You swore we would tell each other everything." Paige voice out again the tears roll didn't her cheek.

Paige quickly left the room in tears.

 "Piper I'm sorry."

"It's all your fault I hate you I truly do." She ran out of the room crying calling out for her sister.

*************

The next morning Marilyn set the girls for school, and dropped them right on time. The girls had no idea Marilyn paid a visit to the principal, and shared footage of the constant bullying Piper suffered in the hands of those girls.

She warned ferociously the principal handle the matter with haste, and make sure Piper is apologized to by everyone involved including the parents of the children. Marilyn also threatened the footage would be shared online and would cause great damage to the schools high reputation, and ratings.

The principal feared, and on knees bended to the ground assured of correcting everything. He would do what he must to avoid a scandal. Marilyn left triumphant. She waited patiently till the morning ready to take out her threats or see if the principal would keep to his words.

Piper went to school with her head low contemplating the punishment the girls had in store she has suffered from different cruelty having ice cold water stopped on her head, had rotten eggs smashed on her, and numerous acts that left her speechless she always expected their violence so quietly she always brought an extra uniform a two piece of everything. It saved her from the questions, the truth from coming to light. If her mother were here she could have confided in her but she was not like other kids.

Her mother's death crushed her heart, and Paige. And their lives haven't been the same ever since she died. Their father missed her greatly in his eyes the light has gone out. He didn't smile as much, didn't sing as he used too, and everything they shared as a family stopped overnight. He focused more on work to drown the pain and splurged on so many gifts to please his kids to help cope with their irreversible loss. He provided everything they ever asked or wanted but beneath it lies the burden nobody was willing to confront. Piper could be little but she understood things he thought she couldn't. After her mother's burial life stopped. They merely existed, and stopped living.

She didn't have a mother reading her bedtime stories, combing her hair in the morning or cooking a special dinner. Her dad tried different Nannies it didn't work she hated them all and Paige and her made life difficult the Nannie's left one by one. Stuck with Ella. Ella did the best but it wasn't the touch of a mother, a food made by chefs didn't hit or the loving hugs she desperately needed.

The school bell rang. Her heart thumping hard in her chest as she walked into the classroom quietly sitting on her desk and burying her eyes into her books. She had no friends and kept to herself all day.

Immediately their teacher walked into the classroom with a sad look in her eyes.

 Mrs. Margaret.

"Piper can I see you for some minutes."

 She nodded.

The teacher led her down the hall and to the open. In front of her where the girls who bullied kneeling and in tears. The rest of the school were present with hawkish eyes confused on the matter of occasion.

The principal went to the podium, and stood erect.

The teacher urged Piper to go up the podium which she humbly did standing at a corner fidgeting. To the astonishment of the crowd the principal went on one knee in apologies.

"Today four girls are rusticated from Global bloom schools, and hereby award Piper Buckley the star of our school for the year. We are so sorry Piper you were made to endure the amount of bullying, sick wickedness those spawn of Satan meted out to you." He hands over a bouquet of roses. "We are deeply sorry and this will never happen again. I'll make sure none of these girls get into any affluent school and you have my word. Bring our star student come with lots of goodies, gifts and a paid trip to any country you wish to."

The crowd erupted into applauses. The girls, and their parents were booed and left the school premises their heads hanging low in shame.

The air burst with cheers and congratulations. Piper stood at a spot holding the flowers, and for the first time in a long time her heart cracked, and a smile reached her eyes. Far-away she spotted Marilyn among the crowd Piper knew her contract mother had something to do with this.
