Inside the house, Kenty stared at the ceiling of her bedroom.
The afternoon sun stretched long shadows across the walls.
Everything felt unbearably quiet.
Her sister was outside with David again.
Their father seemed to like him more each day.
Kenty rolled onto her side.
"Everyone thinks Precious is perfect," she muttered.
She grabbed her phone.
There was one name she knew could break the boredom.
"Sonko."
He was reckless. Unpredictable. But he made life feel exciting.
She pressed the call button.
The phone rang twice.
"Hello?"
"Sonko," she said softly. "Oh… Kenty."
"I'm bored," she admitted.
A smile formed slowly.
"Come see me."
There was a pause.
Then he laughed.
"Give me twenty minutes."
Kenty hung up the phone and leaned back against the bed.
For the first time all day, her heart beat faster.
She had no idea that this small decision would soon create problems for everyone.
