Chapter 3 - The Escaping Mark

Meng Yan's soul had long since merged with his Godhead, becoming one and indivisible.

Soul-based attacks had no effect whatsoever on Meng Yan.

Only a soul attack capable of threatening his Godhead could possibly harm his soul, which had already integrated with the Godhead.

But how could an ordinary Werewolf Mark, relying on a mere auxiliary soul blood implement, achieve that level of attack?

Only a god could threaten a god.

And what happened next confirmed this.

The sound waves, mixed with strange substances, continued to spread after entering the Blood Core, until they passed through the Blood Core and left Meng Yan's body.

During this time, these sound wave energies didn't even touch his Godhead.

They caused not the slightest impact on Meng Yan.

The disparity in levels was too great; even touching it was a luxury.

Werewolf Mark looked somewhat dazed when he saw Meng Yan completely unharmed.

How was this possible? Did his soul attack have no effect on Ryan at all?

Could he possess a rare soul-defense blood implement?

But such a precious blood implement, not even Viscount William could own one; how could Ryan, a mere Baron, possibly have it… Just as Mark was lost in thought, Meng Yan finally moved.

The dense blood-red energy around him suddenly vibrated, first spreading outwards, then rapidly contracting.

A flash of blood-light, and eight glowing red blades appeared in mid-air, circling around Meng Yan, flying and dancing.

He pointed forward lightly, and the numerous red flying blades whistled towards Werewolf Mark.

Blood Clan Magic, Blood Energy Flying Blade.

Mark's expression changed as he watched the eight Blood Energy Flying Blades fly towards him.

Previously, when he fought Ryan, Ryan could only control four Blood Energy Flying Blades simultaneously.

Now, the number of Blood Energy Flying Blades had doubled.

He was only one step away from the nine Blood Energy Flying Blades of a top-tier Baron.

How had Ryan's strength increased so much in just ten short years?

Mark's face was extremely grim, but at this moment, he had no time to think further; the Blood Energy Flying Blades had already reached him.

Magic power surged within his body, rapidly converging on his wolf claws.

Then, he tore forward with both claws, deflecting four Blood Energy Flying Blades.

His figure flashed quickly, dodging the remaining Blood Energy Flying Blades one by one.

Just as he caught his breath, he saw a fist enveloped in blood-red energy coming for his face.

Meng Yan had, unknowingly, arrived in front of Werewolf Mark, his fist wrapped in dense blood energy, striking directly at Mark's head.

Mark let out a low growl, his face full of anger.

A mere Blood Clan daring to engage in close-quarters combat with a Werewolf.

He's courting death!

Bang!

The huge wolf claw firmly grasped Meng Yan's fist, then swung it down violently.

Meng Yan was controlled by the immense power, unable to break free from Mark's wolf claw.

Just as Meng Yan was about to be slammed to the ground, the Blood Energy Flying Blades circling around him suddenly accelerated, slicing across Mark's gray-furred arm.

In an instant.

Several wounds appeared on Mark's arm.

Skin and flesh ripped open, and fresh red blood stained the gray fur.

Mark cried out in pain, unconsciously loosening his wolf claw.

Meng Yan broke free, then leaped up, kicking Mark in the back, using the momentum to fly into the air and re-establish distance.

His eyes flickered slightly.

He had deliberately approached Mark earlier, engaging in close combat, just to test his current physical strength.

Now it seemed that even though he was infinitely close to the top-tier Baron level, he was still far inferior in strength to an ordinary Werewolf.

The Blood Clan's physique was weak, while Werewolves had powerful bodies; these were characteristics of transcendent races, not easily changed.

But it didn't matter; magic was the Blood Clan's strong suit.

That was just an initial test.

Thinking this, Meng Yan's consciousness stirred, and the Blood Energy Flying Blades around Mark exploded, directly blasting Mark away.

Fortunately, Mark grabbed an ancient hundred-year-old tree next to the small mountain, barely managing to steady himself.

Remote control of the Blood Energy Flying Blades to explode and cause damage.

The former Ryan couldn't do this, so Mark, unprepared, immediately suffered a minor loss.

Meng Yan pressed his advantage, waving one hand, and blood energy condensed, whistling as another eight Blood Energy Flying Blades flew towards Mark.

Roar!

The magic power within Mark's body surged, and his wolf claws extended slightly, the tips gleaming with a cold light.

He slammed his right claw forward.

A deep blue Magic Giant Claw, entirely formed by magic power, appeared in mid-air, fiercely grasping towards Meng Yan.

Werewolf innate ability, Magic Giant Claw.

The deep blue Magic Giant Claw avoided the eight Blood Energy Flying Blades, heading straight for Meng Yan.

Meng Yan smiled faintly, first controlling the eight Blood Energy Flying Blades to quickly fly close to Mark, and taking advantage of the brief moment after he had just released the Magic Giant Claw, he detonated the Blood Energy Flying Blades again.

Rumble!

Under a burst of exploding blood-light, Mark took another solid hit.

Then, Meng Yan unhurriedly chanted several strange syllables.

Inside his Blood Core, blood energy surged, circling through his body according to a strange path, then poured out.

Massive blood energy rapidly converged before his eyes, and a two-meter-tall Scarlet Round Shield appeared, adorned with ancient patterns that looked incredibly mysterious.

First-tier Blood Clan Magic, Scarlet Round Shield.

As soon as the Scarlet Round Shield appeared in mid-air, the huge deep blue Magic Giant Claw struck the shield with a powerful force.

Bang!

After a loud crash, the Scarlet Round Shield stood steadily in mid-air, seemingly unaffected.

The ancient patterns on the Scarlet Round Shield even brightened a few shades.

And the deep blue Magic Giant Claw, after a slight tremor, showed signs of wanting to dissipate.

Meng Yan, unhurried, extended his right hand forward, palm open.

A long crack suddenly appeared in the very center of the Scarlet Round Shield; the crack grew larger and larger, looking from afar like a terrifying, scarlet giant mouth slowly opening.

A smile appeared at the corner of his mouth; Ryan had not mastered this move.

His open right hand instantly clenched into a fist.

The Scarlet Round Shield lunged forward, and the large crack, like a giant mouth, instantly bit down on the deep blue Magic Giant Claw.

It lunged forward a bit further, and the entire Scarlet Round Shield covered the deep blue Magic Giant Claw.

Gurgle!

After a strange sound, the deep blue Magic Giant Claw had been completely swallowed by the huge crack on the surface of the Scarlet Round Shield.

On the shield, the ancient patterns glowed brightly, as if they had received some replenishment.

Then, with a bang, the Scarlet Round Shield dissipated into a large mass of blood energy.

Meng Yan opened his mouth, took a deep breath, and absorbed that large mass of blood energy into his body.

He let out a satisfied burp, a pleased expression on his face.

Inside his Blood Core, the blood energy depleted from casting sixteen Blood Energy Flying Blades earlier was now completely replenished.

This was the advanced application of the Scarlet Round Shield: it could devour the enemy's magic power to replenish one's own blood energy.

This was an ability that even the previous Ryan had not mastered.

Huh?

Suddenly, Meng Yan frowned, looking towards the spot where the eight Blood Energy Flying Blades had exploded earlier.

There, the blood-light had completely dissipated.

However, Werewolf Mark was nowhere to be seen.

Did he escape?

Meng Yan wasn't particularly surprised.

After the brief exchange just now, Mark had clearly realized that the current Meng Yan was infinitely close to the top-tier Baron level.

Furthermore, the auxiliary soul attack blood implement had no effect on Meng Yan.

Under such circumstances, escaping was quite normal.

Shaking his head, Meng Yan descended from the air to the ground and walked towards the spot where the Blood Energy Flying Blades had exploded.

There, a green iron piece lay quietly on the ground.
