Chapter 2 - Ryan's Past

Outside the ancient castle, on a small hill.

A tall figure in a gray cloak stood on the hilltop, howling at the sky.

This was a mature Werewolf over two meters tall, with thick gray fur covering his entire body, and yellowish-brown eyes gleaming with an inexplicable fierce light.

After a while, the Werewolf seemed to sense something; he stopped howling and directed his gaze towards the empty air in front of him.

"Ryan, you finally decided to show yourself."

In mid-air, a flash of blood-red light appeared, and Meng Yan's figure emerged.

He wore a burgundy tuxedo, suspended in the air, surrounded by wisps of blood-red energy.

"Mark, you disturbed my slumber."

Meng Yan said in a low voice, his tone laced with coldness.

"Werewolf Mark, you filthy, despicable fellow, you killed my little Eileen! Today, I will make you pay the price!"

Werewolf Mark growled, his eyes filled with intense killing intent.

Meng Yan frowned, feeling a slight headache.

He had previously reviewed Ryan's memories and naturally understood the feud between Ryan and Werewolf Mark.

Decades ago, Mark's granddaughter, Eileen, a beautiful girl who hadn't inherited much of the Werewolf Bloodline, unexpectedly met Ryan.

Ryan was handsome and charming, possessing the unique elegant demeanor of the Blood Clan.

Eileen was deeply attracted to Ryan.

And Ryan, too, felt a strong affection for this innocent and beautiful girl.

The two quickly fell in love, an unstoppable passion.

After a sweet romance, the two soon discovered a troubling truth.

Because Eileen's Werewolf Bloodline was very thin, her lifespan was almost no different from that of an ordinary human.

Only a mere hundred years.

Ryan, on the other hand, as a Blood Clan Baron, possessed a long lifespan.

Normally, he could easily live for over a thousand years.

This meant that by the time Eileen was old and frail, Ryan would still appear youthful.

The two were destined not to grow old together.

Eileen was naturally unwilling to accept this.

Actually, if Ryan had been a Blood Clan Viscount, this problem would have been easily solved.

Ryan would only need to bestow the First Embrace upon Eileen, turning her into his Bloodline.

Unfortunately, Ryan was merely a Baron.

Blood Clan Barons in this world did not possess the ability to bestow the First Embrace upon ordinary creatures.

But Eileen still came up with a way to solve her short lifespan problem: to become Ryan's Blood Servant.

A Blood Clan Baron had the ability to transform ordinary humans into Blood Servants or Blood Slaves.

A Blood Servant was controlled by the Baron's Blood Energy, but his soul remained free.

A Blood Slave was controlled by the Baron's soul and was the Baron's absolute private property.

However, both Blood Servants and Blood Slaves could gain a lifespan far exceeding that of ordinary humans.

But a Blood Clan Baron transforming an ordinary creature into a Blood Servant or Blood Slave had only a sixty percent success rate.

Failure meant death.

Ryan was naturally unwilling; he feared losing Eileen.

But Eileen was extremely determined and insisted on it.

In the end, Ryan couldn't refuse Eileen and agreed to her request.

Regrettably, Lady Luck did not favor the two.

The Blood Servant ritual failed, and Eileen perished.

Eileen's grandfather, Werewolf Mark, was furious upon hearing the news.

Although Eileen didn't have much Werewolf Bloodline, Mark doted on this granddaughter immensely because she greatly resembled his deceased wife.

But now, his most beloved granddaughter was dead, killed by a filthy Blood Clan member.

Werewolf Mark blamed Ryan for everything, believing Ryan had caused his granddaughter's death.

Over the past few decades, Werewolf Mark and Blood Clan Baron Ryan had clashed dozens of times, but because their strengths were not vastly different, Mark couldn't truly harm Ryan.

Ryan felt immense guilt towards Mark because of Eileen, so he usually avoided him.

They only fought when he couldn't avoid it.

And when Ryan hid inside the ancient castle, Mark didn't dare approach easily.

Ryan's ancient castle was enveloped by the Blood Energy aura of Viscount William.

For a transcendent creature to intrude into the ancient castle without Ryan's permission could be seen as a provocation to Viscount William.

Mark was just an ordinary Werewolf, his strength comparable to a Blood Clan Baron, so he naturally dared not offend Viscount William.

Thus, after Mark and Ryan entangled for some years,

Ten years ago, Mark returned to the Werewolf tribe and no longer appeared.

Originally, according to Ryan's conjecture, Mark should have given up.

After Meng Yan transmigrated, he hadn't paid much attention to this matter.

But unexpectedly, today, Werewolf Mark would come knocking.

Werewolf Mark naturally couldn't have known that the person he faced was no longer the original Blood Clan Baron Ryan, but Meng Yan, who had transmigrated.

Under the pure energy cultivation of the Godhead, Meng Yan's strength was already infinitely close to the top-tier Baron level.

If he really wanted to deal with Mark, it wouldn't be as troublesome as it was for the original Ryan.

"Mark, the past is not my fault." Meng Yan said calmly, "Go back. For Eileen's sake, I forgive you for this disturbance."

These words were exceptionally impolite.

After all, Meng Yan was not Ryan and didn't have such complex emotions towards Mark.

If Mark continued to pester him, he wouldn't mind teaching this Werewolf a lesson.

Hearing Meng Yan's words, Mark was enraged and said, "Ryan, Eileen died because of you! I will make you pay the price!"

With that, he stopped wasting words, took out a green iron piece, and pressed it against his throat.

"Roar!"

Mark's body swelled, expanding from over two meters to over three meters, then he let out a deafening roar at Ryan.

The Werewolf's innate ability, Shockwave Howl.

It could affect one's mind and had a certain dizzying effect.

Invisible sound waves spread outwards.

Meng Yan floated in the night sky, completely still.

The ordinary Werewolf's Shockwave Howl couldn't cause much impact on the former Ryan.

And for Meng Yan, who was already close to the peak of the Baron level, this level of Shockwave Howl was no different from a gentle breeze.

The blood-red energy surrounding Meng Yan grew denser and denser; he decided to give this Werewolf an unforgettable lesson.

"Roar! Roar!"

At this moment, Werewolf Mark still hadn't stopped roaring.

However, unlike the first roar, as Mark continued to roar, the green iron piece at his throat began to glow with a ghastly green light.

This green iron piece was a precious shamanic tool Mark had borrowed from other Werewolves in his tribe.

Its function was to temporarily enhance the Werewolf's ordinary innate ability, "Shockwave Howl," into an ability with soul attack properties.

Soul attack abilities were extremely lethal to ordinary transcendent races.

Unless it was a demon or an Evil Spirit Clan member, ordinary transcendent creatures found it very difficult to resist soul-based attacks.

This was Mark's reliance when he came to trouble Ryan this time.

He was confident that even if Ryan was a top-tier Baron, he would be injured by his Shockwave Howl, which contained a soul attack!

If he hadn't reached the top-tier Baron level, under his soul attack, Ryan would most likely suffer a shattered soul and become an idiot.

It was even possible for him to die on the spot.

Meng Yan had already noticed something was amiss at this moment.

The invisible sound waves that spread out seemed to be mixed with some inexplicable things, entering his Blood Core without any obstruction and rushing towards the very center of the Blood Core.

Soul attack?

Meng Yan immediately reacted.

He hadn't expected that this Mark would possess a rare auxiliary soul attack shamanic tool.

However, unfortunately, the thing Meng Yan feared least was a soul attack!
